T. was beaten repeatedly - Photo cut from video provided by family
On the afternoon of July 20, Ms. Tran Thi Yen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Mar Commune, Quang Ngai - said that the commune had grasped the incident and had worked with the relatives of the female student who was beaten by a group of people. Initially, it was determined that the incident occurred at a coffee plantation in Dak Ha Commune.
"Today is Sunday, on Monday the local authorities will discuss with Dak Ha Commune Police to coordinate and invite the group that beat the female student to interrogate," Ms. Yen said.
A group of female students beat up a female student.
Ms. Y. (the female student's cousin who was beaten) posted a video of the incident on social media, hoping that the authorities would clarify the incident and prevent school violence and group beatings.
Ms. Y. said that a neighbor accidentally saw the video in a text message. Seeing that the person being beaten looked like T., she showed it to her. She was shocked and horrified to see her cousin being beaten continuously by the group.
After watching the video, T.'s family asked and he told them the incident happened about a month ago. That was not the only time he was beaten by this group.
"About a month ago, the family saw T. with bruises and scratches. When his father asked, he said he fell off his bike. Now that the incident has been discovered, T. confessed that he was afraid of being beaten again so he didn't dare tell the adults," said Ms. Y.
The family went together to ask some of the friends who had beaten T. and one of them told them in detail how T. was beaten twice.
According to the family video, the incident happened at a coffee plantation. At first, a female student rushed in to beat T., while the rest of the group shouted and cheered.
After beating T., as soon as he stood up, another female student jumped in and started beating him. T. was already lying on the ground, but these female students did not let go. One female student even held up her helmet and told the person who was beating T. to stop.
What's more worth mentioning is that there were many male students at the time of the incident, but instead of stopping it, one male student stood behind and kicked T..

The family hopes for strict punishment and deterrence to prevent recurrence.
Initially, the family said the incident stemmed from online comments, and the group that beat T. were not classmates at the same school.
T. is the middle child in a family of three children. Currently, T. lives with her father, her mother is working abroad. Every day, T.'s father has to go to work, and her sisters help him with housework and take care of each other.
Knowing what happened to his son, Mr. NNH (T.'s father) was very heartbroken and upset.
Worried that his son would continue to be beaten, Mr. H. reported the incident to the Dak Mar Commune Police, hoping to resolve the matter and provide a strong enough deterrent so that it would not happen again.
Although she has only received initial information from the family, Ms. Tran Thi Yen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Mar commune - said that school violence and group beatings are unacceptable behaviors.
The government will handle it strictly and coordinate with schools, families... to educate children with violent behavior.
