On the last night of 2023, Tay Ninh marked an unprecedented record – welcoming 5,009,850 visitors on the cable car to Mount Ba Den in 2023 – the mountain known as the "roof of Southern Vietnam," a famous pilgrimage destination renowned for its sacredness and diverse cultural and spiritual experiences.

Starting at 4 PM on December 31, 2023, the special guests marking the milestone of the Ba Den Mountain cable car reaching 5 million visitors were announced and honored at the cable car station of the Sun World Ba Den Mountain tourist area. The three luckiest guests were the 4,999,999th visitor – Ms. Vo Thuy Linh (Dong Nai); the 5,000,000th visitor – Mr. Cao Hai Bang (Tay Ninh); and the 5,000,001st visitor – Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lieu (Ho Chi Minh City).

“ I was truly surprised and overwhelmed with emotion when, after passing through the ticket area at the tourist resort with my family, I was announced as the 5 millionth visitor. This is such a great joy in the new year. I would like to thank Sun World Ba Den Mountain tourist resort and hope that Ba Den Mountain will always be a top tourist destination nationwide,” shared Mr. Cao Hai Bang, the 5 millionth visitor.
With over 5 million cable car passengers ascending Ba Den Mountain in 2023, Sun World Ba Den Mountain tourist complex contributed to Tay Ninh's tourism exceeding its annual target, welcoming over 5.1 million visitors and becoming one of the top tourist destinations in Vietnam last year.

This is the first year that Tay Ninh has organized a fireworks display along with many other special activities for the New Year's Day celebration, so from early morning, crowds of people flocked to Ba Den Mountain to eagerly await the moment of transition between seasons.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Anh Minh – Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh – said: “With more and more unique experiences, the tourism industry of Tay Ninh has set a record for the number of visitors for the first time. Today, the Ba Den Mountain cable car system welcomes its 5 millionth visitor, which is an extremely proud achievement.”

At Sun World Ba Den Mountain, visitors and residents of Tay Ninh also had the opportunity to celebrate the New Year in a very special way. Amidst the sacred mountain peak sparkling with thousands of LED lights, clouds descended from the statue of the Goddess of Mercy on Tay Bo Da Son mountain onto the vast square. Thousands of visitors silently and respectfully released lanterns into the water around the Prajnaparamita Sutra pillar, giving thanks for a peaceful year and wishing for a new year filled with wealth and good fortune. Thousands of wishes, illuminated by the shimmering light and floating on the water, created a magical and sacred scene on the highest mountain peak in Southern Vietnam.
