Although the rain has stopped, the slow receding of water levels in the rivers is causing flooding in many localities in Ha Tinh province, such as Huong Khe, Can Loc, and Vu Quang.
Many areas in Huong Thuy commune, Huong Khe district, are still experiencing severe flooding.
From the afternoon of October 31st, rain continued in Ha Tinh province, with heavy rain in some areas. However, the rain came in short bursts, was not widespread, and was not continuous, so the flooding situation in some localities has eased.
However, due to the high water levels in the rivers, the floodwaters are receding quite slowly. This means that many households in the province are still experiencing flooding.
Among the localities affected by flooding, at this time, Huong Khe district still has 1,477 households whose homes and gardens have been flooded.
The North-South railway line through Ha Tinh has been reopened after a landslide.
The floods also submerged 6 schools, 15 village community centers, 1 post office, and many roads. Numerous transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the district were eroded and damaged by the heavy rains. The banks of the Ngan Sau and Tiem rivers, passing through the communes of Loc Yen, Gia Pho, Huong Thuy, Dien My, Huong Lien, and Huong Lam, suffered severe erosion.
Ms. NTH (born in 1995, Ha Linh commune) – a victim who went missing in the floodwaters on the afternoon of October 30 while on her way to work – has still not been found.
The village cultural center in Vu Quang district is submerged in floodwaters.
In Vu Quang district, five village cultural centers and two households in Duc Bong and Duc Giang communes were flooded. In addition, due to localized flooding on many roads, 915 households are currently isolated.
The complex flooding situation led to landslides on many roads, causing property damage to 58 households, and affecting 2 households in Duc Huong commune due to flash floods. Many areas of winter corn crops, vegetables, fish ponds, and irrigation canals in the district were damaged by floodwaters.
Flooding is also affecting 200 households in Can Loc district. In addition, many transportation infrastructure, roads, fences, aquaculture areas, and irrigation canals in the locality have been affected by the floods.
Residents in Can Loc district had their homes flooded.
Heavy rains also caused damage to roads and infrastructure in other localities such as Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Ky Anh town and Hong Linh town.
According to forecasts from the Ha Tinh Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from the evening of October 31st, the rain will basically stop in the province, and floodwaters will recede quickly. From November 1st, the flooding situation is likely to improve significantly.
