This morning, the National Assembly held a separate meeting on personnel work under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man .
According to information from the National Assembly Office, with 430 delegates participating in the vote (equal to 90.72% of the total number of delegates); of which, 429 delegates approved (equal to 90.51%), and 1 delegate did not vote, the National Assembly passed a Resolution on approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Ho Quoc Dung and Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra.

New Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung was born in 1966 in Gia Lai province (formerly Binh Dinh). He has a master's degree in law, a high level of political theory; and a member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has held the positions of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province (old), Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Province (old). In June 2025, he was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020-2025 term.
In early October, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung was dismissed by the Politburo from his position as Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary to be nominated for the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
With the addition of two Deputy Prime Ministers, the new Government apparatus includes Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and nine Deputy Prime Ministers: Nguyen Hoa Binh (Permanent Deputy Prime Minister), Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son, Nguyen Chi Dung, Mai Van Chinh, Pham Thi Thanh Tra and Ho Quoc Dung.
