On the afternoon of September 4th, singer Pham Anh Khoa released the music video "My People Sing," marking his return after a long hiatus.
More than just a new musical product, "My People's Song" is also a significant turning point, redefining the artist's image as a mature artist deeply rooted in national culture and identity.
Pham Anh Khoa feels pressured when releasing his new music video.
Releasing the music video "Dân tôi ca" (My People Sing) at a time when many artists are touching on the theme of national culture is both a challenge and an opportunity for Pham Anh Khoa. He frankly acknowledges: "To say there's no pressure would be a lie, but most of it is positive pressure."
The male singer likened today's music to the old proverb: "Business thrives when there's an association, and sales flourish when there's a community."

Previously, artists had to work alone to get audiences interested in a particular issue. Now, with many people speaking and acting together, it's an opportunity to create a synchronized, structured, and directed platform.
"Each person will cherish a different perspective, like the story of the blind men and the elephant. It's difficult for me alone to say that I'm describing everything."
"I think the perspective of someone with the surname Pham like me would be that of a man, that if we are proud, we will contribute in some way," Pham Anh Khoa told Tuoi Tre Online .
Instead of continuing to pursue the "explosive rocker" image, Pham Anh Khoa chose to slow down. In this music project, the male singer left space for his colleagues to voice their opinions, creating a diverse range of musical styles.

"When we sing together, the performance creates a more vibrant spectrum of colors. Up until now, my music has seemed a bit monotonous – reflecting my age and the early stages of my career."
"Back then, I only had enthusiasm and passion, but I didn't have enough responsibility and understanding of the role of a public figure. Now, I think I'm at a more mature age to reflect on things and make changes," he confided.
The artist's ego merges with the collective self.
"My People's Song" is a song that combines music, martial arts, and traditional culture. The music video uses minimalist background imagery, deep lighting, and powerful Vovinam movements – a very different image from Pham Anh Khoa's previous work.
The music in this song isn't elaborate or overly narrative. Instead, he lets the folk elements speak for themselves. That's why "My People's Song" impresses with its approach to music creation using the Vietnamese language itself.

The repeated "ho oi ho" melodies in the song may seem meaningless, but they are actually folk "sound particles," containing the cultural memories and spirit of the Vietnamese people.
The male singer calls it an "optimistic phase" - sounds that create physical and mental joy, transmitting positive energy, just like the definition of the word "music" in Vietnamese.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Pham Anh Khoa said that the song's original title was "My Folk Song ," reflecting his personal perspective.
However, after 10 years, the singer decided to name the song "My People's Song" to reflect the shared joy of the nation and to express a desire that, according to Pham Anh Khoa, is "very achievable." That is, unity and working together for positive values in peacetime.
