On the morning of March 20, on the occasion of International Day of Happiness, the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the Happy Vietnam 2024 photo and video contest, taking place directly at the Ministry of Information and Communications ( Hanoi ) and online at 63 locations nationwide.

Promoting communication on human rights
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications - said that the contest was first initiated in 2023, received thousands of entries and achieved impressive success, being widely received and highly appreciated by the public at home and abroad.
"The contest aims to discover and honor meaningful moments and stories in all aspects of political , economic, cultural and social life through photos and videos to affirm achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, thereby affirming achievements in the field of ensuring human rights in Vietnam in recent years" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized.
Director of the Department of External Information Pham Anh Tuan said that this year, Phu Quoc city (Kien Giang province) and Binh Dinh province are expected to organize their own local Happy Vietnam contests.
The organizers said that after the contest, 100-150 works will be selected for the final round and will be displayed in exhibitions to serve foreign information work at home and abroad.
Through the Happy Vietnam contest, the organizers hope to promote communication about Vietnam's achievements in the economic, cultural and social fields, aiming to ensure human rights through organizations and individuals at home and abroad.
The total prize value of the competition is 400 million VND. In each category, there will be 1 gold medal worth 70 million VND, 2 silver medals worth 20 million VND/each.
3 bronze medals worth 10 million VND/each, 10 consolation prizes worth 5 million VND/each, 1 prize for the most voted work worth 5 million VND.

Vietnamese or foreigners from 15 years old can take the exam.
Happy Vietnam 2024 photo and video contest is organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and relevant agencies.
This is the second year the competition has been held nationwide and will be held annually. The first season will take place in 2023.
The contest is open to professional and amateur authors, Vietnamese and foreigners, living in the country or abroad, aged 15 and over.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong - President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists - said there is only one award system, without separating professional and amateur categories.
The contest consists of two categories: photo and video. Each author can submit up to 10 entries.
Entries must be created from January 1, 2022 to the date of submission and must not have previously been entered into or won any other competitions or exhibitions.
The jury members were proposed by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and will be announced in the near future.
The Organizing Committee accepts entries from March 20 to August 20, 2024.
