Leveraging its advantages to enable Da Nang to achieve breakthroughs.

A government delegation led by General To Lam, member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, held a working session with Da Nang City to discuss the situation of production and business, public investment, infrastructure construction, and import and export activities in the area.

At the meeting, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, stated that Da Nang's growth rate in 2023 was 2.58%, and the size of the economy in 2023 at current prices is estimated at over 134,247 billion VND, an expansion of nearly 10,000 billion VND compared to 2022.

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, and Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, co-chaired the working session.

The service sector continues to be a bright spot, making a positive contribution to the city's economic growth. The city attracted 7.39 million tourists, double the number in 2022; and successfully organized many national and international events. Simultaneously, Da Nang City focused on attracting investment, granting and adjusting licenses for 40 domestic projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 46,698.5 billion and USD 181 million in FDI. It is estimated that for the whole year of 2023, total domestic investment will reach approximately VND 60,000 billion, and FDI will exceed USD 200 million.

Despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges, Da Nang City has made efforts and received support from ministries, central agencies, and the government. In particular, the Prime Minister has approved the Da Nang City Master Plan for the period 2021-2030 and a vision to 2050, synchronizing various sub-area plans and master plans.

According to Da Nang city leaders, in 2024, the locality has identified the theme "Year of accelerating administrative reform, strengthening records and discipline, continuing to unlock investment resources, promoting economic growth and ensuring social security" in order to create new momentum and overcome limitations and difficulties.

Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, hopes that central ministries and agencies will pay attention to and support the resolution of Da Nang City's requests.

Given the difficulties encountered in implementing political tasks in 2023 and the first two months of 2024, Mr. Le Trung Chinh hopes that central ministries and agencies will pay attention to and support the city in resolving its requests. Especially those related to the project for a regional-scale international financial center in Da Nang; the establishment of a National Innovation Startup Support Center in Da Nang; initial capital support for the expansion of the Da Nang High-Tech Park; resolving difficulties related to real estate projects; and guidance on adjusting the investment project for the concentrated Information Technology Park, phase 2...

Mr. Chinh also proposed that the Government working group inspect and review complex, long-standing, and unresolved complaints and denunciations; resolve obstacles in investment and development of transportation infrastructure; support businesses in boosting production, business, and import-export activities; promote the circulation of goods on the East-West corridor; and allocate central government budget funds for the 2025-2030 period to implement the project connecting the Western Ring Road to the La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway...

Speaking at the meeting, General To Lam highly appreciated the achievements of Da Nang in 2023 and the first months of 2024. Da Nang City has identified difficulties, limitations, and obstacles, and based on that, has promptly made recommendations and proposals to promote local socio-economic development in the coming period, especially in 2024. General To Lam encouraged ministries and agencies to contribute initiatives, proposals, recommendations, orientations, experiences, and innovative approaches to help Da Nang achieve breakthroughs.
