Promoting the strengths of youth
Only 32 years old, but Ms. H'Huong Hmok, an Ede ethnic, has been the Party Cell Secretary for 8 years, and has been elected as a Prestigious Person of Knac village, Buon Triet commune, Lak district, Dak Lak province for 4 years. That shows Ms. H'Huong's prestige with the Party Committee, government and people of Knac village.
Knăc village currently has 128 households, more than 500 people, mainly Ede ethnic people. As a particularly difficult village, the transport infrastructure is limited, the production land area is small, and many backward customs still exist. Understanding the difficulties that hinder the development of the people, Ms. H'Huong, together with all levels and sectors, actively propagates and mobilizes people to contribute funds and working days to build roads and concretize canals according to the motto of the State and the People working together. In addition, she also encourages people to eliminate bad customs, focus on preserving and promoting the national cultural identity...
“As a young and prestigious person, I remind myself to try my best to complete my tasks, make efforts to mobilize people to participate in emulation movements at the grassroots level, strengthen solidarity, and build the village together,” said Ms. H'Huong.
With the contribution of Ms. H'Huong, Knăc village has changed a lot. People together build a healthy cultural life, practice civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, eliminate social evils, superstitions, and bad customs. Up to now, Knăc village has been recognized as a cultural village, nearly 90% of households in the village have achieved the title of cultural family.
Similarly, Mr. Vang Seo Sang, a Mong ethnic, is 38 years old this year, but has held the role of a Prestigious Person of Yang San village, Cu Elang commune, Ea Kar district for 4 years, since hundreds of Mong ethnic households left their old residence to the resettlement area of Yang San village to give up land for the irrigation project of Krong Pak Thuong lake.
Mr. Sang shared: At that time, it was very difficult to persuade people to move to a new place, because at first, people had many worries and concerns. I and the government explained and persuaded people to understand and implement the general policy of the State. When I came here to start a new life, I continued to work with the authorities at all levels, accompanying people to build houses, stabilize their living conditions, and persuade people to help each other improve the land and produce rice. From the initial worries and concerns, the lives of 250 households in Yang San village have now stabilized and developed.
Rejuvenating the team of prestigious people
For a long time, the election of Prestigious People by default had to be older people, village elders, but now that concept has changed. The Prestigious People team in Dak Lak province has more and more young people. Typically, Buon Triet commune, Lak district is one of the few localities with many young Prestigious People in Dak Lak province. The whole commune has 4 Prestigious People, of which 3 are young Prestigious People (from 32 - 45 years old).
Mr. Bui Manh Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Triet Commune, shared: Young prestigious people all hold the position of part-time village cadres such as Party Cell Secretary, Village Chief, and Head of the Front Work Committee. The advantage of young prestigious people is that they have qualifications, social understanding, quick grasp of information, and skillful use of technology and social networks, so receiving information is convenient and transmitting it to people quickly. In recent years, ethnic, religious, security and order issues in the ethnic minority areas in the commune have been basically stable, and the material and spiritual life of the people has gradually improved.
In 2025, Dak Lak province will have 952 Prestigious People. Paying attention to the Prestigious People among ethnic minorities, Dak Lak province has promptly and fully implemented policies, creating motivation for Prestigious People to promote their roles and responsibilities.
Head of the Dak Lak Province Ethnic Minorities Committee Nguyen Kinh shared: In recent years, Dak Lak Province has had more and more young people honored as Prestigious People. With their youth, young Prestigious People have been promoting their agility, pioneering role, accessing information, applying technology and techniques to propagate and mobilize ethnic minorities, contributing to the comprehensive development of ethnic minority areas. Along with the "big trees" of the village, the team of young Prestigious People is promoting the role of "bridge" between the Party, the State, and authorities at all levels with the People.
