Promoting the role of competition in training

In early July, the scorching summer sun did not dampen the training spirit of the units of the 414th Engineer Brigade (Military Region 4). On the training ground of Company 10, Crossing River Battalion 4, the platoons assembled in formation and conducted mine placement training. The order of the training steps such as determining the location of materials, disseminating combat plans and checking the content of the previous lesson... were carried out very methodically by the platoons.

Captain Ung Van Hieu, Captain of Company 10, shared: “As soon as the command was given by the comrade on duty, the Company's emulation team scored each individual, squad, and platoon on their conduct, compliance with training ground regulations, and training quality. This has impacted the sense of responsibility of officers and soldiers throughout the training process.”

Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Manh, Political Commissar of the 414th Engineer Brigade, said: “The Party Committee and the Brigade’s command always attach importance to and promote emulation in training. From the beginning of the year, the Brigade has directed units to improve and promote the role and responsibility of the emulation council, committee, and team, bringing the emulation movement for excellent training to a new level.”

We learned that the Party Committee and the Command of the 414th Engineer Brigade determined that the emulation movement for excellent training must focus on building motivation and determination for officers and soldiers in training. In order for the emulation movement to develop in both breadth and depth, from the Brigade agency to the units, we must promote breakthroughs in improving the quality of training, focusing on improving the qualifications of officers directly training. Every month, the 414th Engineer Brigade organizes inspections, assessments, and classifications for each collective and individual, creating motivation and competitive spirit throughout the unit.

During the break time of Company 10, we witnessed the lively atmosphere on the training ground. Under the direction of the Deputy Political Commissar of the Company, the soldiers enthusiastically participated in military games that complemented the training mission. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Son, Political Commissar of Crossing the River Battalion 4, said: "Party and political activities on the training ground have a great competitive impact on improving the quality of training and are one of the factors that multiply the coefficient 2 in the competitive scoring".

The approval of the cadres' lesson plans is also highly valued by the 414th Engineer Brigade and is planned for each training month to monitor and score the competition. In addition, the Brigade also promotes the competition movement to promote initiatives, improve training techniques, and promptly commend and reward groups and individuals with effective training models, initiatives, and inventions.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Long, Brigade Commander of the 414th Engineer Brigade, affirmed: "Thanks to promoting emulation, in recent years, the 414th Engineer Brigade has always excellently completed training and exercise tasks; for many consecutive years, the Brigade has been awarded the flag of Excellent Training Unit by the Ministry of National Defense."
