After successfully completing their mission in the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Truong Son Troops were assigned by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to build the economy and rebuild the country after the war. The 12th Corps was recognized by the Prime Minister as a military enterprise, a strategic reserve bridge and road engineering corps of the Ministry of National Defense. On the new front, although there was no gunfire, it was still full of hardships, difficulties and challenges.
However, with the spirit of solidarity, promoting the tradition of "cutting through Truong Son to save the country", generations of officers and soldiers of Army Corps 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation have constantly innovated, confidently stepping into the period of construction, integration and development. The Army Corps has left its mark with hundreds of key projects across the country and neighboring countries of Laos and Cambodia, affirming the stature, position and prestige of a large-scale military enterprise with a strong brand, among the top in the construction industry. Well performing the functions of "production labor army", "work army" in the new period.
“Commands from the heart”
Assigned by the Government, the Prime Minister, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to rebuild Lang Nu and Nam Tong villages (Lao Cai province) affected by natural disasters, the 12th Corps urgently developed a plan to rebuild the entire two villages. The 12th Corps Command determined this to be an urgent, especially important task, a combat task in peacetime.
Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defense, both projects must be completed before December 31, 2024 so that people can welcome the New Year in their new homes. The huge amount of work, the urgent time, and the difficult conditions for implementing the tasks have created great pressure on the officers and soldiers of the Corps. The Corps Command has directed the Party Committee and unit commanders to do a good job of educating, disseminating, and motivating officers and soldiers, identifying this as an urgent task, an "order from the heart", with a noble humanity. From there, build courage, determination, and overcome danger so that people can soon have a peaceful life.

With the spirit of "mutual love" and effective initiatives and solutions, officers and soldiers of Army Corps 12 have exceptionally completed the task of rebuilding the residential areas of Lang Nu and Nam Tong villages in 68 days, more than a month ahead of schedule under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defense. At the inauguration ceremony and handover of houses to the people of Lang Nu and Nam Tong villages, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised: Army Corps 12 has promoted the spirit of serving the people and further beautified the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in socio-economic development, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
On September 9, 2024, due to the impact of natural disasters, floods and the impact of water flow, Phong Chau bridge collapsed, cutting off the traffic route connecting Lam Thao district (old) and Tam Nong district (old), Phu Tho province, causing serious damage to people and property. Receiving orders from the Prime Minister, the Minister of Construction and the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, on October 10, 2024, after a very short time, Army Corps 12 coordinated with Phu Tho province and the Ministry of Construction to propose the construction of a new Phong Chau bridge under emergency orders and assigned the Army Corps to carry out the project. The Army Corps Command urgently coordinated with the relevant authorities to study the terrain, geology and hydrology of Phong Chau bridge and to develop the design. Construction started on December 21, 2024, the project to build the new Phong Chau bridge is expected to be completed in 13 months (expected on January 21, 2026). If following the normal process, it takes 8-10 months from project establishment to technical design approval.
Clearly assessing the advantages and difficulties, correctly identifying the critical points and bottlenecks, the Corps Command has thoroughly instructed the officers and soldiers: No matter how difficult it is, it must be overcome to excellently complete the task of building the new Phong Chau bridge, worthy of the expectations and trust of the leaders of the Party, State, Government, authorities, and the aspirations of the local people. With those efforts, the new Phong Chau bridge was completed and inaugurated by the Corps on September 28, 2025, making practical achievements to welcome the 12th Congress of the Army Party Committee, to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party, more importantly, connecting traffic for the people, contributing to the development of local socio-economy, and strengthening national defense and security.
Pioneering in difficult tasks, leaving a mark on key projects

Corps 12 has successfully completed the task of constructing key traffic projects, making an important contribution to the goal of having 3,000km of expressway nationwide by the end of 2025. Corps 12 is also one of the key units assigned to carry out airport construction projects such as: Noi Bai Airport runway; Terminal T3, Tan Son Nhat Airport; taxiways, parking lots, Terminal T2 of Dong Hoi Airport, Cat Bi Airport, especially Long Thanh International Airport. The construction conditions of airport projects are very difficult and complicated, requiring high safety for the exploitation and operation of existing works and equipment. This is an important task, only a few domestic units are capable of performing, including Corps 12.
In addition, Corps 12 is the core unit in constructing hydroelectric and irrigation works, making a particularly important contribution to ensuring national energy security and promoting the country's socio-economic development. With its capacity and extensive experience in the field of hydroelectric construction, Corps 12 was assigned by the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Vietnam Electricity Group to participate in the projects: Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Plant Expansion, Ialy Hydroelectric Plant Expansion, Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant. The construction conditions of hydroelectric works are very difficult and dangerous, requiring very strict technical processes, very few units have the capacity to carry out, many businesses have had to give up in this field. However, Corps 12 has thoroughly grasped and well implemented the goal of "All for the electricity of tomorrow of the Fatherland". Along with that, the 12th Army Corps successfully completed the task of building irrigation works, making an important contribution to socio-economic development and improving people's lives in strategic areas of the country.
At the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of key projects on the occasion of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, Corps 12 had 10 projects started, 5 projects inaugurated across the country. In particular, Corps 12 was assigned by the Government, the Ministry of National Defense and other ministries and branches to implement 3 very large-scale projects, namely: Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc Expressway Project, Cai Nuoc - Dat Mui Expressway Project and the sea-crossing bridge to Hon Khoai Island. These are projects of special importance, not only contributing to accelerating the speed of inter-regional socio-economic development but also being a frontline shield guarding the airspace and sea of the Southwest of the Fatherland.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, generations of Truong Son soldiers built the legendary Truong Son road, making an especially important contribution to supporting the Southern revolution to complete victory. In peacetime, Truong Son soldiers were one of the core forces participating in the reconstruction, construction and development of the country. In particular, the 12th Corps became the pioneer force in building projects connecting the mainland with the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.
The officers and soldiers of the 12th Corps always clearly identify that honor and pride must go hand in hand with great responsibility. The scale of the projects is very large, requiring high technical processes, carefulness, meticulousness, huge workload, and urgent progress. In particular, the project of the sea-crossing bridge to Hon Khoai Island with a length of nearly 18km will be the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam, one of the longest bridges in Southeast Asia. These are great pressures and challenges in the process of performing the tasks of the Corps' officers, engineers, and workers. With capacity, experience, high determination, and great aspirations that have been proven through many key national projects, the 12th Corps will excellently complete its tasks at the country's especially important projects.
