DBP - On the afternoon of October 22, Comrade Lo Van Cuong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, led a delegation to survey and inspect the community cultural tourism site of Phieng Loi village, Dien Bien Phu ward to assess the potential, natural conditions, infrastructure, landscape, culture and community life.

Phieng Loi village was established in 1956, currently has 68 households, 100% of whom are Thai ethnic people. With beautiful natural landscapes, flat terrain, located along the Nam Rom River, Phieng Loi has many advantages to develop community tourism associated with ecology and indigenous culture. Currently, the village has 2 spacious and clean cultural houses; traditional crafts have been restored and preserved; the Han Khuong festival is unique, creating a foundation for developing unique cultural tourism products; the village has 2 households providing food services and 2 regularly operating art troupes. However, the traffic infrastructure is mainly dirt roads, the lighting system and waste collection are not synchronized; spontaneous tourism services, lack of unique products; limited propaganda and promotion activities.

It is expected that Phieng Loi community tourism village will officially open on December 1, 2025 with rich experiential activities such as: Ethnic arts, cuisine , folk games and traditional crafts, promising to become a unique cultural tourism highlight of the province.

Dien Bien Phu ward leaders informed about the infrastructure system in Phieng Loi.

At the survey, the leaders of Dien Bien Phu ward proposed: Upgrading and investing in Phieng Loi community tourism village in association with implementing the criteria for new rural construction; planning and investing in the construction of points and exhibition houses to introduce and sell local products (agricultural, OCOP, traditional craft products, souvenirs...) to serve tourists with quality. The ward proposed installing lighting systems on the internal roads. Regarding the development of community tourism products with regional characteristics, focusing on developing tourism products with quality, diversity, distinction, high experience and added value, associated with local cultural identity, suitable for market trends and tourists' needs.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lo Van Cuong requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant departments, branches and Dien Bien Phu ward to develop a specific project to develop community cultural tourism in Phieng Loi, associated with socio-economic development programs, ensuring harmony between heritage conservation and improving people's lives.

Leaders of Dien Bien Phu Ward People's Committee gave opinions at the meeting.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu ward and related units to continue to conduct detailed surveys and evaluate the current status of infrastructure, traffic systems, electricity, water, and environmental sanitation; strengthen propaganda and socialization; mobilize people to unite and actively participate in community tourism models, contributing to creating sustainable livelihoods.
