Established in 1991 with the aim of strengthening the relationship between Germany and Vietnam, DVG has many branches and working groups in many localities in Germany, closely cooperating with the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany and has organized many activities contributing to fostering the relationship between the two countries. In 2025, the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

To further promote bilateral cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that both sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level ones, and promote the early elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Regarding trade and investment, welcoming the German Government's submission of documents to the German Parliament for ratification of the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in early 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged direct cooperation between German states, enterprises and corporations with Vietnamese localities and enterprises, especially investment cooperation in Vietnam in the fields of: supporting industry, renewable energy, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, green economy, digital and circular...
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also emphasized the need to make science and technology cooperation between the two countries a spearhead in the next phase of bilateral cooperation, especially in priority areas such as innovation, artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, biotechnology, nanotechnology, semiconductors, quantum technology, etc.
Affirming that Vietnamese agencies always pay attention to and accompany German partners and friendship organizations with Vietnam, the Deputy Prime Minister asked DVG to continue promoting its strengths, increase the implementation of development cooperation projects in Vietnam, and contribute more to the relationship between the two countries./.
