Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attends the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai

At the invitation of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and the Organizing Committee of the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will lead the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 6th CIIE in Shanghai, China, from November 4-6.

The 6th China International Import Expo marks the first full return of an in-person exhibition in the world's second-largest economy since the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

"As the world's first import-themed national-level expo, the CIIE is a showcase for China's new development model - a high-standard market opening platform and a platform that is expected to bring global benefits," Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping said at a press conference ahead of the event.

According to Chinadaily, this edition of CIIE set a new record with the participation of 289 companies listed in the Fortune Global 500 Ranking and top business leaders.

CIIE 2023 attracts attendees from 154 countries and regions, regions and international organizations, including developed, developing and least-developed economies. According to Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Office, about 200 companies have confirmed their participation for the sixth consecutive year, and about 400 enterprises have registered to return to the fair after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

More than 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, marking a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels. More than 400 new products, technologies and services are expected to be launched at this year's fair.

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is hosted by the Chinese government and organized annually by the Ministry of Commerce of China in coordination with the Shanghai Municipal Government.
