CNN's travel website recently ranked Vietnamese pho in second place on its list of the 20 best noodle soups in the world .
Pho typically contains ingredients such as beef or chicken along with chewy, flat white rice noodles. The broth is simmered with bones for many hours along with several herbs such as cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom, creating a wonderfully fragrant and distinctive flavor. It is usually served with scallions, herbs, lime, chili peppers, vinegar, and fried dough sticks, according to personal preference.
