The place name Xuan Hoa dates back to 1880 after a number of communes and villages established in 1836 by the Nguyen Dynasty were abolished and replaced by a number of new commune and village names. Accordingly, Tan Dinh village was changed to Xuan Hoa village, belonging to Binh Chanh Thuong commune, district 20.

Tan Dinh Communal House was also renamed Xuan Hoa Communal House until now. The Communal House was built facing west, overlooking the Nhieu Loc River, very convenient for river traffic at that time.

After the merger, Xuan Hoa ward in Ho Chi Minh City is an attractive culinary destination with famous restaurants, known to diners for decades. Among them, the most prominent is the famous lunch restaurant at 138 Vo Van Tan.

The restaurant is known as "rich people's restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City" with prices ranging from 60,000 - 200,000 VND/portion. This price is higher than other cheap restaurants in the area. However, the restaurant has remained crowded for decades because the quality goes hand in hand with the price, according to regular customers.

This restaurant is also affectionately called "Ba Beo" restaurant, partly because of the plump appearance of the owner, Nguyen Thi Le Hoa. However, she passed away nearly 2 years ago due to a serious illness, leaving the restaurant to her relatives to inherit.

Mr. Bui Van Trung (48 years old), the only son of Mrs. Hoa and her husband, inherited his mother's beloved restaurant for 40 years. Since the age of 9, he has been helping his mother run the restaurant, guided by his mother. In addition, his father is also the one who knows how to cook dishes, and has also passed them on to him, so most of the dishes at this restaurant have not changed.

Every day, the restaurant still serves 30-40 different dishes, with a variety of preparation methods, from stewed, fried, stir-fried, soup... to a variety of ingredients such as fish, shrimp, squid, meat... The prices of the dishes have remained unchanged for many years, according to the restaurant owner.

His descendants gradually moved to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business and started selling the family pho dish. "In 1997, my parents moved to Saigon to start a business, opening a family pho restaurant on Nguyen Duy Duong Street (District 5). However, there were many problems with the location, so in 2000 my parents decided to sell their land in Hanoi to buy this house, and have been selling pho ever since," Mr. Chinh said about the pho restaurant, which is also his family's house on Ly Chinh Thang Street.

Besides vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine, Xuan Hoa ward also has a variety of cuisines from many different countries such as Korean, Japanese cuisine, and rich dishes from the 3 regions of North - Central - South for diners to choose from.
