On August 27th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of District 7, announced that the district will officially inaugurate the Sky Garden Commercial and Culinary Street in Tan Phong Ward during this year's September 2nd holiday.

And over the next nine days of the opening week, there will be a series of cultural and sporting activities, workshops on arts and crafts, culinary experiences, and commercial events, contributing to making the district an attractive holiday destination for residents and tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City on September 2nd.

Accordingly, the opening ceremony will take place on the night of August 30th, showcasing an image of a model night-time commercial and culinary service area located within a civilized model urban area, bringing high economic value to the community. To create a highlight, the district has prepared a Vietnamese-Korean-Japanese mashup, a flashmob performance, and the introduction of "Ambassadors" of the neighborhood – famous people living in the area – who will participate in the Nightown D7 street lighting ceremony.

The public also had the opportunity to enjoy a cultural and musical exchange performance themed "Colors of Vietnam and Korea," featuring performances by famous Korean and Vietnamese singers.

Throughout the opening week, there will also be a series of nightly musical programs, including: an art program celebrating the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day on September 2nd; performances of traditional folk instruments and the five-tone music of the Southern Khmer people; a fashion show with the theme "Folk Emotions"; acoustic performances; and the "Student and Youth Singing Festival" 2024.

For young families, the neighborhood also prepares folk games and sports activities such as: blindfolded pot smashing, coconut leaf weaving and clay figurine making, portrait painting on glass, self-portrait painting, children's painting, statue painting, reading culture, free drawing classes, living statue performances, yo-yo performances and martial arts demonstrations.

In addition, locals will have the opportunity to experience green, renewable, and environmentally friendly handicrafts, such as making traditional conical hats in Chuong Village; and visit stalls showcasing Vietnamese products and souvenirs for tourists.

During the opening week, locals and tourists can also shop at SC Vivo City Shopping Center with discounts of up to 80% on over 300 brands, participating in the "Brand Name Promotion - City Sale" program in 2024 organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, and visit the 18th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan stated that the activities during this opening week complement each other, encouraging residents and tourists to come to the district to shop and experience.

"We will continue to develop plans for cultural and sports activities, regional specialty stalls, OCOP products, etc., on a regular basis for the coming period, to create unique features that attract tourists from all over, especially international visitors, to Ho Chi Minh City."

These include products such as tourism combined with conferences, seminars, and exhibitions; tourism combined with healthcare; tourism combined with education; and tourism combined with entertainment, recreation, and sports.

"Specifically, tourism products combining shopping and cuisine are being concretized with the development of the night-time economy in the district, providing exciting experiences for tourists," Ms. Bé Ngoan said.

To handle the anticipated surge in visitors, the District 7 People's Committee has also planned to coordinate with Saigon Public Transport Co., Ltd. to provide transportation for tourists from the Wonderland park parking lot on Nguyen Dong Chi Street to shopping areas and activities at the Sky Garden Food and Trade Street.
