US military controls Washington DC airspace with artificial intelligence (AI)

The Pentagon announced on August 28 that the US military will control the airspace of Washington DC using artificial intelligence (AI). Those in charge of the project promise that the application of AI in the image recognition and warning system will be 10 times more effective than the means currently used.

“Orders for the system have been placed, and deployment will begin in late 2023... The modernization significantly enhances the ability of air defense missile system operators to identify intruding aircraft and transmit laser warnings (non-invasive) at much greater distances,” the Pentagon press release confirmed.

Last April, the Pentagon ended a year and a half of prototype testing, with the product's developer, Teleidoscope, receiving a $100 million contract.
