From early morning, when the fog still covered Xin Man, the team of doctors and nurses of the Infirmary had prepared breakfast and brought it to each patient's bed. Major Phan Dun Minh, the Infirmary's doctor, kindly visited and checked the health of each patient. As close as a relative, he talked to the people in the Mong, Dao, La Chi, Tay, and Nung languages. As a local, he understood the customs and practices, and understood the difficulties of the people, so his advice was always trusted and followed by the people; many patients recovered faster thanks to that dedication.
Mr. Di Sao Ngan, a resident of Xin Man village, Xin Man commune, has been receiving inpatient treatment at the infirmary for nearly a week, and his condition has clearly improved. He shared: “I have had a spinal injury for more than 30 years, and it relapses every time the weather changes. Before, when there was no army infirmary, I had to travel nearly 20km downhill to the medical center. Since the Military Medical Corps 313 came here, I have been examined and monitored regularly. The army enthusiastically examined me and gave me free medicine, the right medicine for my illness, so I am much healthier.”

Sharing the same belief, Mr. Ma Seo Po, Hau Cau 1 village, Xin Man commune, excitedly said: “The medical staff always take good care of me. I go for medical treatment without having to pay any money, including accommodation and food. Every day I get to eat with the staff, I feel very close.”
Xin Man Commune is currently merged from 5 communes: Then Phang, Nan Xin, Ban Diu, Chi Ca and Xin Man, with an area of over 125km² and nearly 20,000 people; the grassroots medical force is still thin, while the number of people coming to the Infirmary for examination is very large. Since the beginning of the year, the Infirmary has examined more than 2,600 people, treated nearly 700 inpatients, and provided free medicine to more than 1,900 people.
Major Nguyen Dinh Nui, a doctor at the Infirmary, said that due to the difficult conditions in the highlands, people often suffer from blood pressure, seasonal diseases, and digestive diseases; there are many cases of poisoning due to eating strange mushrooms, aconite leaves, or taking pesticides due to suicidal thoughts. Many times when receiving reports at night, the medical team immediately goes to the area to coordinate with the commune health force to provide emergency care. If the treatment is beyond the capacity of the Infirmary, the patient will be transferred to the next level by the unit's ambulance. Lieutenant, Doctor Nguyen Tien Manh, Head of the Infirmary, added: “Although all medical examination, treatment, and inpatient accommodation costs are free, many people still maintain backward customs, inviting shamans or self-medicating when sick, and only coming to the Infirmary when the disease becomes serious, causing many cases to require emergency treatment or transfer to a higher level to recover. Therefore, in addition to treatment, the team of doctors and nurses always patiently explains to people to understand the cause of the disease, believe in medicine, abandon superstitious practices of worshiping and curing diseases, and not self-medicate.”
Along with the task of medical examination and treatment, the Military-Civilian Medical Clinic of Economic-Defense Group 313 also actively carries out mass mobilization work. Through mobile medical examinations and medicine distribution sessions, military medical staff propagate and mobilize people to build a scientific lifestyle, abandon bad customs, know how to do business to develop the economy, and be vigilant against provocative arguments of hostile forces. These practical actions not only take care of people's health but also contribute to strengthening the "people's heart position", increasing solidarity between the army and the people at the border of the Fatherland.
