The assault units of the Russian Army Group South continue to advance into the city of Kostiantynivka (Konstantinovka), and the area around the railway and tram station in the south of the city has been taken over by the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF). The offensive is also underway in the adjacent urban area, with fierce fighting as Ukrainian forces try to hold their positions. Both sides are using a large number of UAVs.

Rybar channel reported that Russian troops are gradually taking control of the area south of Kostiantynivka. After entering the city from the Ivanopol bridgehead, the RFAF Southern Group of Army Groups' assault forces captured the tram station. The tram station at the entrance to the city is also under Russian control. There has been some progress in the adjacent residential area.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was unable to grasp the RFAF's intentions on this front. Russian troops were not only advancing on Kostiantynivka, but were also encircling the city from the eastern flank, and were advancing towards the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk area.

The Readovka channel reported that, in the current context, if the RFAF reaches Kramatorsk, the defense of Kostiantynivka could be "forgotten." Further north, Russian troops are advancing towards Privolnoye and Minkivka along the E40 highway, less than 20 km from Slavyansk. To halt the Russian advance, the Ukrainian side destroyed the bridge at Privolnoye.

Rybar reported that the RFAF was closing in on the southern defense perimeter of Konstantinovka. Russian assault troops began a breakthrough from the Rusin Yar area, aiming to reach the supply lines for the enemy troops stationed in the city. The timing of the RFAF attack was considered perfect because, despite its strong defenses, the AFU was still facing a serious shortage of troops.

To the west, the RFAF eliminated a relatively large Ukrainian force near the village cluster of Shakhovo, Sofiyivka and Toretskoye along the Kazennyi Torets River. To the east, the AFU concentrated on defending Konstantinovka, Russian troops entered the vicinity of Santurinivka.

Furthermore, with the Russians in control of Ivanopol, a potential breakthrough into Konstantinovka from the southeast opened up. The AFU now faced multiple Russian fronts, without enough reserves to fill in. Their only advantage was their pre-prepared defensive fortifications, but the RFAF's superior firepower offset this advantage.
10-2878.jpg
At the same time, the RFAF 98th Guards Airborne Division launched a raid from Mayske and approached Klinovske. At the same time, the Russian airborne troops were expanding the breakthrough corridor with an attack on Verolyubovka, a key stronghold intended as a springboard for the attack on Alekseevo-Druzhkovka. Now all the logistical routes from Druzhkovka and Kramatorsk to Konstantinovka passed through Verolyubovka.

With the RFAF penetrating the city of Druzhkovka from the south, the Ukrainian grouping at Konstantinovka was in a critical situation. The only place where the AFU General Staff could mobilize forces to counter the breakthrough of the 98th Airborne Division was the Malocharka and Novodmitrovka areas, north of Kostiantynivka. The 5th Separate Assault Brigade and the 112th AFU Rifle Brigade were already deployed there.
15.jpg
However, if the AFU General Staff were to withdraw from there, they would risk being attacked by the RFAF's 98th Airborne Division. This would threaten to open another breakthrough area for the RFAF into the city. In this case, the AFU would be forced to mobilize all its forces into urban combat, avoiding a repeat of the "Pokrovsk scenario".
11.jpg
In addition, the RFAF also attacked the front line near the villages of Berestok and Stepanivka, south of Konstantinovka. This was the most strongly defended area, as the AFU relied on four villages, forming a solid defensive area. The motive of the RFAF General Staff here was quite clear, to hold the Kiev forces, in a stalemate.

Veteran Ukrainian war correspondent Marat Khairullin has updated the latest information on the situation in Konstantinivka. According to him, the RFAF encirclement in the western part of Virolyubivka is almost complete; and from the east, Russian troops may have reached the outskirts of the settlement.

On December 4, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of Bezimyane, located east of the city of Druzhkivka. This settlement is small (population 10), but, like the Klynove settlement captured on December 1, it has an important tactical significance in the operation conducted by the RFAF Southern Group of Operations. What happened on December 1 in the Strashny Yar area, however, is important as a frontal breakthrough, which is why Khairullin placed this tactical marker on the map.
13-8743.jpg
Unlike the Klynove settlement located in the Klynove Gorge, Bezimyane is located on a hill 207m above sea level. To the east, about 2km away, is the AFU Stenky defense area at an altitude of 126m. To the southwest, 1km away, is the defense area at Izhevka, 198m above sea level.
15.jpg
The positions in the settlement of Bezimyane controlled several important roads passing through the settlement and were located nearby, within range of Russian fire. There was a road junction right in the settlement and nearby was the Verolubovka railway junction.

By advancing from Klinovoye to Bezimyane, units of the RFAF Southern Group of Forces are breaking through the Belokuzminka - Novodmitrievka defense node and destroying the enemy's transportation system in the operational depth of the first line of defense.

The western encirclement of the Verolubovka area is almost complete. At the same time, according to unofficial information, the RFAF assault units have reached the outskirts of Verolubovka from the east. In the Klinovoye - Beznamennoye area, the RFAF has established a bridgehead on the slopes of the Chasov Yar - Kryvyi Torets river area.

After capturing the town of Izhevka, the advance groups of the RFAF Southern Group of Forces will move to the intersection of the Ukrainian positions of Druzhkovka and Konstantinovka. To the southeast of this area is the wide valley of the Kryvyi Torets River, where the strategic ring road N-20, connecting the entire area of positions of the Sloviansk - Druzhkovka group, passes 5 km from Izhevka.
