Officials and female members of Truong Long commune clean up the environment along Route 926.
Taking advantage of the sunny weather, dozens of female officials and members of Truong Long commune organized environmental cleanup and planted 1,200 bougainvillea plants along the 3,000-meter stretch of Road 926. This is a meaningful project in the series of activities celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) for the People and to welcome the First Congress of the Women's Union of Can Tho City, term 2025-2030.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hoa, Head of the Women's Association in Truong Tho A hamlet, shared: "The women divide up the tasks, each doing their part, from sweeping and collecting garbage, clearing bushes to caring for and trimming ornamental plants along the roadside… Although it's hard work, everyone is happy because they are contributing to building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful residential area." According to Ms. Hoa, the Women's Association in Truong Tho A hamlet regularly encourages its members and women to voluntarily sort garbage at the source, use compost bins for organic waste, limit the use of plastic bags, and prioritize using plastic shopping baskets or other environmentally friendly baskets when going to the market. Periodically, the Association holds quarterly meetings, incorporating the dissemination of knowledge on reproductive health care, and encouraging women to actively participate in production and local movements.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Truong Long commune, said that in recent years, the Women's Union of the commune has focused on implementing the campaign "Building a family with 5 no's and 3 clean's" and the model "A family with 5 yes's and 3 clean's," linked with the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas." Through these cooperatives, employment has been provided for over 300 unemployed people in the locality.
In addition, the Women's Union of the commune proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to advise on the development of two collective trademarks recognized by the Intellectual Property Office, including: "Truong Long Seedless Lemon" and "Truong Khuong A Star Apple"; and supported the products of three cooperatives to be included in the product traceability management system of Can Tho City... To date, the pink butter star apple and blacksmith star apple products of Truong Khuong A Fruit Tree Cooperative have achieved OCOP 4-star.
