Mr. Bui Trong Tue added that on the afternoon of December 4, the unit sent forces from the Road Management Department to inspect the scene. Accordingly, on National Highway 1A, the section passing Deo Ngang, at Km596+860 - Km596+910 (left side of the route), a new single crack appeared, along the road surface, the crack location was 1.2m ÷ 2.2m from the inner edge of the cement concrete retaining wall; the average width was 1.5cm.
Preliminary cause determined, in the recent time due to the impact of storm No. 12 causing prolonged heavy rain, new cracks appeared on the road surface, posing a risk to traffic safety.

Previously, as reported by VNA, a section of National Highway 1 through the Deo Ngang area connecting Quang Tri and Ha Tinh had large cracks on the road surface. Some cracks were about 3 cm wide, enough to fit a finger, stretched for dozens of meters and were clearly visible on the asphalt layer. Many vehicle owners were worried that this situation could cause landslides or road collapse, especially for vehicles traveling below the foot of the slope.
