"This announcement is intended to send a message to the presidents of federations and clubs. I am a candidate for the CBF presidency. I have incredible plans and before you commit to voting, I want to have a personal conversation with each of you. I will travel all over Brazil for that," Ronaldo said in an announcement published in Globo Esporte about his candidacy for the new CBF presidency.

"I have many motivations, but the biggest one is to restore the respect of Brazilian football to the whole world . I've met many fans on the streets, and they've asked me and requested that we help restore the respect of Brazilian football. The situation for the Brazilian national team isn't the best, both on and off the pitch," Ronaldo emphasized.
To execute his plan to run for the CBF presidency, Ronaldo must convince federations and clubs in Brazil to support him. He will do this from March 2025 to March 2026, before entering the election.
According to Marca (Spain): "Ronaldo is in Brazil, after announcing his candidacy, he will travel around campaigning and trying to find ways to change the state of football in his country. Brazilian football has been in decline in recent years. The Brazilian national team has not been successful since their fifth World Cup victory in South Korea and Japan in 2002. They have gone through the next five World Cups, including the 2014 World Cup on home soil, with their best result being fourth place, and the rest reaching the quarter-finals."
To fully dedicate himself to the CBF presidency if elected, Ronaldo would also sell his La Liga club Valladolid, in which he owns 82% of the shares and holds the presidency.
"We are in negotiations about the possibility of selling Valladolid very soon and we have to finalize this. It will not hinder my participation in the race," Ronaldo stated.
The current president of the CBF is Ednaldo Rodrigues, but he has recently lost the support of Brazilian fans due to the team's poor performance in recent World Cups and in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America.
Brazilian fans are hoping for change, and they hope Ronaldo will become the new president and bring in the renowned coach Pep Guardiola as promised.
