Early this morning, the final match of the second round of the English Premier League took place between Newcastle and Liverpool. As usual, the defending champions showed two contrasting faces: explosive attacking play and a fragile defense.
The match was quite intense, with 19 fouls in the first half alone. Newcastle played aggressively to limit Liverpool's attacking capabilities. They also created a number of chances early on.
Despite the circumstances, Liverpool still took the lead. They took the lead in the 35th minute thanks to midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. Receiving an assist from Cody Gakpo, Gravenberch finished neatly to give The Kop the lead.

Newcastle were reduced to 10 men at the end of the first half. Anthony Gordon was sent off for a brutal foul on Virgil van Dijk. This doubled the visitors' advantage, and at the start of the second half, Liverpool found their second goal. Striker Hugo Ekitike scored with a superb curling shot.
However, at this point, their lax defense caused them problems. Newcastle pulled one back with a header from Bruno Guimaraes in the 57th minute. Buoyed by this, the home team played on equal terms with their opponents despite being down a man. They managed to equalize 2-2 in the 88th minute.
In the 90+10th minute, Liverpool launched a superb attack down the right wing. Mohamed Salah delivered a cross, and 16-year-old substitute Rio Ngumoha received the ball in a clear position and finished to seal a 3-2 victory for Liverpool. Ngumoha (16 years and 361 days old) also set a record as the youngest player to score in Liverpool's Premier League history, breaking the record previously held by Michael Owen.

Mohamed Salah made history with a double of prestigious Premier League titles.
