Samsung pledges to pour nearly 2 billion USD more investment capital into Bac Ninh

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - In addition to the $6.5 billion already invested in Yen Phong Industrial Park, Samsung Group has committed to expanding its investment with a total registered capital of $1.8 billion this year.
This commitment was announced at the Conference on the Announcement of the Planning for the period 2021-2030, Vision to 2050, and Investment Promotion of Bac Ninh Province in 2024, on the afternoon of September 22nd. Attending this conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed Bac Ninh province awarding investment registration certificates, investment policy decisions, and memoranda of understanding with various projects and partners. Most notably, Samsung Group committed to expanding its investment with a total registered capital of US$1.8 billion this year, in addition to the US$6.5 billion already invested in the Yen Phong Industrial Park.

The Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade Union Investment Joint Stock Company received approval for the investment plan to build an ecological urban area in Thuan Thanh town with a total investment of 27,000 billion VND, equivalent to 1.06 billion USD. Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. also decided to expand, increasing its investment capital by nearly 1.1 billion USD for a factory project to manufacture, assemble, and test semiconductor materials and equipment. In the first nine months of the year, Bac Ninh province ranked first nationwide in attracting foreign investment with 4.3 billion USD; the total investment attracted to date has reached over 35 billion USD. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed businesses and investors who have chosen Bac Ninh province for investment. He urged investors to uphold the spirit of "working together, winning together, sharing together, and developing together"; and to build long-term, sustainable business strategies. The Prime Minister also affirmed the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State to avoid criminalizing civil and economic relations, but to resolutely deal with acts that violate the law.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the province's commencement of the Kenh Vang bridge project, contributing to regional connectivity in line with the central government's new spirit of "local authorities decide, local authorities act, local authorities take responsibility," and also the commencement of a new social housing project to help provide housing for the people – a crucial factor in attracting labor, investment, and achieving rapid and sustainable development. Spending time analyzing planning work, the Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of planning in creating significant opportunities, having long-term impacts, and serving as an important driving force for development. Planning must be one step ahead, realistic, feasible, and leverage the unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of each region and locality, according to the government leader. According to the plan, by 2030, Bac Ninh will become a centrally-governed city, a dynamic economic and cultural center of the northern region.

To realize the plan, the Prime Minister emphasized that Bac Ninh province needs to focus on mobilizing and effectively utilizing all resources to promote traditional growth drivers and concentrate on new growth drivers. Along with that, it is necessary to strengthen investment and human resource development; enhance regional, domestic, and international connectivity through connecting transportation systems, production and supply chains, and markets. Regarding key tasks and solutions, the Prime Minister requested that resources be focused on investing in the industrial and service sectors, prioritizing the development of potential industries, and attracting investment into new sectors. In addition, the Prime Minister urged the province to accelerate the development of strategic infrastructure, especially transportation and urban infrastructure. Developing key industries, high-tech industries… Emphasizing that Bac Ninh is one of the important trading centers of the Red River Delta region, the Prime Minister wants the locality to strive to "catch up and catch up" in the implementation of the Hanoi Capital Region's Ring Road 4 project; and to prepare well for projects to attract large, potential investors with modern technology…

Also at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates pressed the button to officially launch the construction of the Kenh Vang Bridge project and the social housing project in the Que Vo new urban area. The Kenh Vang Bridge project, 740 meters long with a total investment of nearly 2,200 billion VND, is considered a symbol of development and connectivity between Bac Ninh and Hai Duong provinces. The social housing project in the Que Vo new urban area has an investment scale of over 1,300 billion VND and is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2025.
