Samsung has officially confirmed that the One UI 8 interface, based on Android 16, will be available on the entire Galaxy S series from the Galaxy S21 FE onwards. This is considered a major upgrade, bringing a smoother experience to users.
One UI 8 Launched with Galaxy S25
Like previous times, Samsung rolled out the first One UI 8 beta program on its latest flagship line – the Galaxy S25. This will also be the first device to receive the stable update when the company officially releases it widely in the near future.
List of upgraded Galaxy S phones
According to Samsung's software update policy, all the models below will be supported with One UI 8:
Galaxy S25 series: Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge
Galaxy S24 series: Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE
Galaxy S23 series: Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE
Galaxy S22 series: Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra
Galaxy S21 series: Galaxy S21 FE
Models that will stop upgrading the operating system
For the Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, and Galaxy S21 FE, One UI 8 based on Android 16 will be the last major OS update. These devices will still receive One UI 8.5 (expected to launch with the Galaxy S26 in 2026), after which only regular security patches will be available. Users who want to continue to experience new versions of Android will need to upgrade to a later generation Galaxy device.
Other Galaxy users should note
If you have a Galaxy phone outside the S series, check out the separate lists for Galaxy A, Z, and Tab models to see if your device will get One UI 8 support. Samsung is expected to announce more information in the coming months.
📌 With this update, Samsung affirms its long-term commitment to upgrading software, helping users fully enjoy the Galaxy ecosystem, even if the device was launched many years ago.
