Vietnam - Laos border defense friendship exchange to take place

(Dan Tri) - The 2nd Vietnam - Laos border defense friendship exchange will be held from October 22 to 23, in Moc Chau district ( Son La province) and Sop Bao district (Houaphanh province, Laos).
On the morning of October 15, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a press conference to introduce the second Vietnam - Laos border defense friendship exchange. At the meeting, Colonel Tong Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, said that the exchange is an activity that contributes to promoting and strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam. In particular, the exchange also contributes to maintaining a peaceful , stable and developing environment in the region and the world; practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. The exchange also contributes to further strengthening political trust, building and consolidating friendship, special solidarity and promoting more substantive cooperation between the border protection forces of the two countries, local authorities and people in border areas; thereby building a truly peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developing Vietnam - Laos border. Colonel Viengxay Soulivong believes that with the efforts of relevant agencies of Vietnam and Laos, the exchange will be a great success, leaving deep impressions, opening a new chapter in defense cooperation between the two countries, leaving a deep impression of the great friendship and special solidarity between the armies and peoples of the two countries. The Vietnamese delegation is led by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense and the Lao delegation is led by General Chansamone Chanyalath, Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense. The programs expected to be held in Vietnam on the afternoon of October 22 include: Welcoming and farewell ceremony for the Lao Ministry of National Defense delegation at Long Sap border gate (Moc Chau district, Son La), planting friendship trees, visiting the joint exercise to coordinate in catching cross-border criminals, visiting the Long Sap border guard station; attend the inauguration ceremony of the Long Sap Primary - Secondary School,... In Laos, on the morning of October 23, the following activities are expected to take place: Welcoming and farewell ceremony of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense delegation at Pa Hang border gate (Laos); greeting the landmark, painting landmark 255 (both sides of the landmark on the Lao and Vietnamese sides); witnessing a joint patrol (commanded by Laos); planting friendship trees (on the Lao side); visiting and presenting gifts to Pa Hang Primary - Secondary School; attending the groundbreaking ceremony of Border Guard Company 214. In addition, the military medical forces of the two countries will organize medical examination and treatment activities, providing free medicine to more than 2,000 people in the Vietnam - Laos border area at three locations in Laos and Vietnam; communicating knowledge about health care, protection, disease prevention and control; exchanging military medical expertise between Vietnam and Laos.
