(NADS) - Regarding the controversy surrounding the couple O Sen Ngoc Mai and Quoc Nghiep in the US, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture stated that it will officially address the issue upon their return to Vietnam.
A representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports (HCMC Department of Culture and Sports) stated that Ngoc Mai and Quoc Nghiep are freelance artists, not affiliated with any public units under the Department. According to current law, freelance artists do not need permission to travel abroad, except when participating in beauty or modeling competitions.
Regarding the controversial images of Quoc Nghiep and Ngoc Mai, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports is coordinating verification and will work with them upon their return to Vietnam. Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) stated that it was verifying the incident.
As previously reported by TC Photography & Life, a video showing Ngọc Mai and Quốc Nghiệp playing with their child in the US, which included the three-striped flag of the former Saigon regime, caused outrage and calls for a boycott. Ngọc Mai and Quốc Nghiệp explained that they had no control over the flag in the video and "promised to learn from this experience." However, public opinion remained indignant, with many accusing the couple of irresponsibility. Ngọc Mai and Quốc Nghiệp have since locked their personal Facebook accounts and fan pages.
