As a cold front approaches, heavy rain is expected in the North starting tonight.

According to information from the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the strong cold air mass currently in the North is continuing to move southward.

Forecasts indicate that around December 13th, a cold front will affect the Northeast region, then the North Central region, the Northwest region, and the Central region. Inland, strong northeasterly winds of force 3-4 will prevail, with coastal areas experiencing winds of force 4-5, and in some places reaching force 6, gusting to force 7-8.

In Northern Vietnam, the weather will turn cold from December 13th. In the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam, it will be intensely cold from December 13th to 14th, with some high mountainous areas experiencing severe cold; some areas in the Northern Delta will also experience intensely cold weather. From the night of December 13th, the North Central region will also experience cold weather.

The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will generally range from 7-10 degrees Celsius, with some high mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius; in the plains, temperatures will generally range from 11-14 degrees Celsius; and in North Central Vietnam, temperatures will generally range from 12-15 degrees Celsius. In Hanoi, there will be moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind during the thunderstorms. From December 13th, the weather will turn cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell will generally range from 12-14 degrees Celsius.

Severe cold weather, with frost in some areas, could affect livestock and poultry, as well as the growth and development of crops. Heavy rains could cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on slopes; and intense rainfall over a short period could cause flooding in urban and industrial areas.

Weather forecast for the whole country on Friday (December 12th): In Hanoi, it will be cloudy with scattered rain. The night will be cold. The lowest temperature will be 19-21 degrees Celsius, and the highest will be 24-26 degrees Celsius.

The Northwest region will be cloudy with scattered rain. Light winds. Cold weather in the morning and at night, with some areas experiencing intense cold. The lowest temperature will be 15-18 degrees Celsius, with some areas below 14 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 22-25 degrees Celsius, with some areas above 25 degrees Celsius.

The Northeast region will be cloudy with scattered rain. Light winds. Cold weather in the morning and at night, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature will be 18-21 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas below 17 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 22-25 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 25 degrees Celsius.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, it will be mostly cloudy, with scattered rain in the north and scattered showers and thunderstorms in the south. Winds will be from the north to northwest at speeds of 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 19-22 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 22-25 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 25 degrees Celsius.

In the South Central coastal region, the northern part will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain and showers, and thunderstorms in some areas; the southern part will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in a few places. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature will be 22-25 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 28-31 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 31 degrees Celsius.

The Central Highlands will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 18-21 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 27-30 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 23-26 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature will be 24-26 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 30-32 degrees Celsius.
