In the Kata final, Vietnamese martial artists Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen excellently defeated host country Thailand to win the Gold Medal.

The Vietnamese female kata athletes chose to perform the Tomari Bassai kata form within 5 minutes. The highly challenging performance, showcasing perfect technique and expressive movements, earned the Vietnamese women's kata team the highest score.
This is the first gold medal for Vietnamese Karate at the 33rd SEA Games. It is also the first gold medal for the Public Security Sports team (athlete Nguyen Ngoc Tram) at the 33rd SEA Games.

Also on the afternoon of December 11th, a Vietnamese fighter lost to her Indonesian opponent in the final of the women's -54kg traditional combat sport (MMA), thus only receiving a silver medal. However, since MMA was included in the SEA Games for the first time, the result did not count towards the overall medal standings.
In badminton, Vietnam's number one female player, Nguyen Thuy Linh, faced Indonesian opponent Armatya Pratiwi in her opening match of the women's singles event this afternoon. Nguyen Thuy Linh won the first set 21-16, but could not maintain her advantage, losing the subsequent sets 20-22 and then 14-21.
With this 1-2 defeat, Thùy Linh has been eliminated from the SEA Games 33. Earlier, she and her teammates lost to Malaysia 1-3 in the women's team event.
