The Ministry of Foreign Affairs speaks out about errors in the depiction of the map of Vietnam.
The map of Vietnam displayed was incorrect, omitting the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as Phu Quoc Island, which are under Vietnam's sovereignty .

On the afternoon of December 11th, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' regular press conference, Spokesperson Pham Thu Han answered reporters' questions regarding information from the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games held on the evening of December 9th.

Specifically, the organizers of host country Thailand used special effects to simulate maps of the region's countries. However, when displaying the map of Vietnam, the projected image omitted the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as Phu Quoc Island.

Regarding this issue, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: "Vietnamese authorities have been working with the Organizing Committee of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand on the error in the representation of the map of Vietnam in the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games."

"Once again, Vietnam affirms its indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law," Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
