Diverse products, stable prices

In early December, along Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Van Cu, Le Loi, Ho Tung Mau streets, red and green colors and Christmas decoration models appeared, covering the facades of shops, restaurants, cafes, creating a festive atmosphere earlier than every year. This bustle partly reflects the clearly increasing purchasing power, when many stores recorded a large number of customers right from the beginning of the season.
At Ms. Pham Thi Nghia’s decoration stall in the main hall of Vinh market, the number of customers has increased sharply in the past week. “Customers are mainly coffee shops, restaurants, shopping centers… looking to buy decorations. Although the Chinese yuan has increased, the price of imported goods from China has not fluctuated much, the goods are still very rich with many segments,” Ms. Nghia said.

In the popular product group, Christmas accessories such as baubles, bells, ribbons, glasses - Christmas headbands or Santa Claus costumes continue to be good selling items. Prices range from 20,000 VND to 500,000 VND, depending on size and material. Meanwhile, Christmas trees are still the most high-end segment: 1.2m high ones cost from 800,000 VND or more; in particular, white snow pines and pink pines are leading the trend.
This year’s market also saw the rise of handmade products, a new competitive advantage that stores have been proactively expanding. While last year’s models were mainly round and traditional, this year’s designs are triangular, block-shaped or combine colored strings, snowflakes, and new accessories, creating a distinct difference.

In the large-sized product group, reindeer models, oversized Christmas trees, and space lamps also sell well thanks to the demand of cafes, service stores, and businesses. This year's supply not only increases in quantity but also varies in materials: Plastic, silk, wood, canvas... Many shops invest from several million to tens of millions of VND to attract customers to check-in, an important factor in the competition of the service industry at the end of the year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Y Nhi, owner of a coffee shop on Nguyen Van Cu Street, shared: “I hired a landscape design company with a package of 15 million VND to decorate the entire shop. Doing it early helps create a space that attracts customers right from the beginning of the season. Because customers come to coffee shops or shopping centers not only to use the service but also to “live in the Christmas atmosphere”.
Prioritize experiences and emotional values

Not only is there a variety of goods, this Christmas season has also seen a clear shift in consumer tastes. In particular, personalized products such as handmade cards, scented candles, and decorative gift boxes are popular among young people.
Office workers and young families prefer to choose products that can be used for a long time, such as real trees, handicrafts or reusable accessories. The trend of sustainable consumption has a strong impact on the market: Customers consider the material, durability and environmental friendliness before buying. Along with the traditional decoration group, real pine trees and pine trees are becoming the "hot trend" of this year's Christmas season, clearly reflecting the shift in consumer tastes. In many stores, tree models priced from 100,000 to 300,000 VND are constantly "out of stock", especially the mini desk tree line that is very popular with young office workers.

Ms. Tran Phuong Lan, Kim Dong Street, said: “Although real trees are smaller than fake trees, they have natural beauty and can be taken care of every day. They are decorated with dried orange slices, dried cinnamon... both fragrant and environmentally friendly. This year I spent 500,000 VND to buy a tree to decorate my family's small room.”
Not only attractive to retail customers, the cypress and pine trees are also the choice of many shops and businesses thanks to their gentle beauty and air-purifying ability. Ms. Ai Huong, who chose the cypress tree for her working corner, shared: "The tree is from 45cm to 1.5m high, suitable for many spaces. Moreover, using real trees helps reduce plastic waste, creating a trend of sustainable consumption."
Catching this trend, many bonsai shops have switched to selling real trees for the Christmas season. Mr. Quoc Tung, owner of a bonsai shop in Vinh Phu ward, said that the demand for this type of tree has increased steadily over the past 5 years, making the imported supply more abundant this year. Real trees after the holiday season can be planted in the ground, well cared for and even kept for the following year, creating more attraction for buyers.

The atmosphere at the flower shops is equally bustling. Many workshops on decorating Christmas trees and making scented candles are held on weekends, attracting many young people to participate.
In particular, many people consider decorating Christmas themselves as a way to create a warm space for the family. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai, Hung Dong ward, said: "Christmas is an occasion for family reunion. I often buy a few handmade items to decorate with my children, both for fun and to preserve memories."

According to retailers, the Christmas season in 2025 is not only a shopping season, but also a season of emotions and experiences. New tastes, sustainable trends are on the rise, and purchasing power is expected to continue to increase until the holiday. All of this creates a vibrant, colorful and vibrant Christmas market picture, one of the most prominent highlights of the year-end consumer market.
