On October 15th, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a subsidiary of Sun Group owned by Mr. Le Viet Lam, officially launched its first commercial flight sales, with scheduled departures in November 2025.
The arrival of this "newcomer" makes the already vibrant domestic aviation market even more competitive.
Vietnam Airlines kicks off with a range of competitively priced tickets, rivaling Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , Sun PhuQuoc Airways' booking system has opened for many domestic routes connecting major tourist and economic centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc.
When choosing the Hanoi - Phu Quoc route, ticket prices vary significantly between airlines. For example, if you buy a ticket on October 15th for a flight between November 3rd and 8th, the cheapest fares are 2.2 - 2.5 million VND/ticket from Vietnam Airlines; 1.9 - 2.3 million VND/ticket from Vietjet; and 1.5 - 2.4 million VND/ticket from Sun Phu Quoc Airways…

Similarly, on the Hanoi - Da Nang and Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City routes, the "newcomer" Sun PhuQuoc Airways still offers competitive fares, lower than Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet by 200,000 - 300,000 VND per ticket.

Surveys show that in the initial phase, Sun PhuQuoc Airways offered quite competitive prices. If you consider the total price of a round-trip ticket from Hanoi to Phu Quoc, this airline is selling tickets from 3.1 million VND, significantly lower than Vietnam Airlines' 6.1 million VND, and even cheaper than Vietjet.
However, this range of low-priced tickets may soon be exhausted as the airline adjusts its pricing policy to the market average, comparable to other domestic airlines. This is a phase to introduce the brand and attract passengers. After stabilizing the frequency and fleet, prices will be readjusted to ensure business efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan, General Director of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, said that passengers can now book tickets for flights departing from November 1, 2025 to March 28, 2026 , including the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2026 .
Initially, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will focus on operating trunk routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang with Phu Quoc , along with the "golden route" Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City , before expanding its domestic network in early 2026.
Many airline ticket agents believe that Sun PhuQuoc Airways is choosing a "middle ground" position between traditional and low-cost airlines, along with many advantages.
Even in economy class, passengers are allowed 7kg of carry-on baggage, 23kg of checked baggage, and a free meal, something most budget airlines don't offer.
According to the airline's representative, within the first hour of sales opening, the Sun PhuQuoc Airways website recorded over 20,000 visits, with many flights quickly selling out or having very few tickets remaining.
Sun Phu Quoc Airways is the first airline in the history of Vietnamese aviation to be simultaneously granted two important certifications by the Civil Aviation Authority: an Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) and an Aviation Training Organization Certificate (ATO).
The airline has currently received three Airbus A321NX aircraft, with plans to increase that number to eight in 2026. The pilots and flight attendants receive training both domestically and internationally.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways' total investment capital is approximately 2,500 billion VND. With the entry of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the Vietnamese aviation market now has 7 domestic airlines: Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, VASCO, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways.
According to experts, the emergence of new airlines will increase competition, offer more choices for passengers, and encourage existing airlines to improve their services and optimize costs.
