Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van participated in voluntary blood donation.
Outside of the educational environment, people are familiar with Ms. Van as an active blood donation volunteer. Thanks to her enthusiastic efforts, many officials, teachers, staff, and even parents in the school have actively responded to blood donation programs launched by the trade union and the local authorities. Ms. Van has participated in voluntary blood donation 20 times. Not only does she see the benefits of blood donation, but her act of kindness also stems from her compassion for patients in critical condition.
“There were times when I took sick relatives to the emergency room, and I witnessed many people who had been in accidents and lost a lot of blood and needed urgent transfusions. But the blood bank at the hospital didn't always have blood available, not to mention incompatible blood types. Seeing the distraught faces, the pleading eyes of the patients' families, and the dedication of the medical staff every minute, every second… I really wanted to do something to help, but I didn't know how,” Ms. Van recounted.
Ms. Vân carried that concern with her until one day, the school received a blood donation notice from the People's Committee of Núi Sập town. After the campaign was launched within the unit, she volunteered to participate first. Initially, many who had never donated blood were hesitant, afraid of the pain, and worried about the health effects of blood loss… Ms. Vân encouraged all staff and teachers to “try it once” and explained the procedures and benefits of donating blood… Overcoming these psychological barriers, in subsequent campaigns, almost every time a higher-level unit initiated blood donation, Ms. Vân's school always had a large number of teachers participating. The school's labor union always supported and encouraged the teachers with practical gifts, creating additional motivation for members to participate in charitable work.
Ms. Hong Van has worked in the education sector for 24 years, tirelessly dedicating herself to the cause of "nurturing future generations." Since 2014, she has been appointed as an administrator. As a principal, she sets an example in various activities to encourage staff and teachers to participate. It is noteworthy that she regularly engages in self-study to improve her knowledge and professional skills, and shares experiences with colleagues.
Professionally, she advocates for innovative teaching and learning methods that foster independent and creative thinking in students. To achieve effectiveness in all three educational environments—school, family, and society—the school administration actively disseminates educational policies and guidelines to parents. All teachers at the school utilize information technology for lesson planning and teaching; they also use Misa software for student assessment, feedback, and printing of communication forms and report cards.
Continuously from the 2018-2019 school year to the present, "A" Primary School in Nui Sap town has maintained a student enrollment rate of over 100%, with no dropouts. The school has achieved success in various movements at the provincial and district levels, such as English public speaking, painting, and calligraphy. Over the past five years, the percentage of teachers with university degrees has increased from 71.42% to 90.19%; and the percentage of students completing the primary school program has reached 100%.
Ms. Vân has researched the initiative "Measures to cultivate and improve the professional skills of teachers in the 'Excellent Teacher at the Primary School' emulation movement," through building a team of teachers that is sufficient in quantity and strong in quality. Annually, the Thoại Sơn District People's Committee evaluates the collective performance of Primary School "A" in Núi Sập town as ranging from good to excellent; the Party and mass organizations have also performed well, achieving the title of strong. She has personally received numerous awards from the education sector, local authorities at the town, district, and provincial levels for her achievements in emulation and outstanding performance.
At her school, Ms. Van proposed activities and programs to educate students, staff, and teachers on the spirit of compassion. A prime example is the Youth Union's "Small Projects" movement, which aims to donate study corners to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate strong academic resilience. She also pioneered in supporting cadres, teachers, and staff in the education sector in the district when requested by superiors through open letters. Within her school, the management always facilitates the union's role in caring for the material and spiritual well-being of its members and employees during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and times of illness.
