At the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang warmly welcomed the delegation's visit to Vietnam at a particularly significant time, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1995–2025) and the second anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2023–2025).
It was affirmed that Vietnam-US relations have continued to develop positively in many areas in recent times. Both sides maintain regular contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially at the high level; and actively coordinate to resolve outstanding issues, including concerns about the economy , trade, and investment.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the role of the US Congress and the support of both the Democratic and Republican parties in the development of Vietnam-US relations, especially the quiet but practical contributions of Congressional Assistants in promoting bilateral cooperation in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect.
Emphasizing the strategic significance of cooperation in addressing the consequences of war, the Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the United States for maintaining significant support in this area, contributing to strengthening trust and creating a long-term foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
In that spirit, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang requested that the US Congressional Assistants continue to pay attention to and support the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Vietnam-US relations. This includes practical measures such as moving towards a fair and balanced trade agreement, early recognition of Vietnam's market economy status, and removal of Vietnam from the D1-D3 list related to US strategic export controls.

The Deputy Minister also expressed a desire to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, promote exchanges between parliamentary committees, and expand cooperation in areas where Vietnam has needs and the United States has strengths, such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and education and training.
For their part, Mr. Lindsay Mark Lewis and the Congressional Assistants expressed their gratitude to Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang for taking the time to receive the delegation, and affirmed that the US Congress, including both parties, strongly supports strengthening relations with Vietnam.
The delegates expressed their admiration for Vietnam's dynamic and comprehensive development achievements, and highly appreciated Vietnam's increasingly important role in the region and on the international stage. The delegation particularly emphasized the leading role of economic, trade, and investment cooperation – which is the main pillar driving the substantive and effective development of bilateral relations.
Acknowledging the proposals from the Vietnamese side, the Parliamentary Assistants pledged to continue their efforts to promote the comprehensive development of bilateral relations, especially in strategic areas that are in line with the long-term interests of the people of both countries. In particular, parliamentary relations will continue to be identified as an important channel for dialogue and cooperation in the future.
