Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang received the Director of the French Development Agency (AFD)

On December 3, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang received Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam Julien Seillant on the occasion of his beginning of his working term in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang welcomed and congratulated Mr. Julien Seillant on his appointment as Director of AFD Vietnam, especially in the context of the strong development of the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the regular high-level contacts and exchanges between the two countries in recent times; cooperation in education, health, science and technology is becoming the pillars of the new cooperation framework, contributing to enhancing political trust as well as understanding between the two peoples.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang thanked and appreciated AFD's companionship and practical and effective contributions over the past 30 years to the Vietnam-France relationship; believing that AFD will continue to be an important partner contributing to Vietnam's development in the new era of development.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the regular contacts and exchanges of high-level delegations between the two countries in recent times.

Director Julien Seillant emphasized that AFD's current priority tasks focus on projects to respond to climate change, demonstrated through supporting localities to increase their ability to adapt and recover from the impacts of climate change, while promoting the energy transition and optimizing transport and urban infrastructure to reduce emissions. The AFD Director affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with European and international partners to mobilize not only capital resources, but also advanced technology and techniques to promote cooperation projects with Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to coordinate to deepen and make bilateral cooperation more effective, including researching and implementing cooperation projects with Hanoi city in the fields of urban transport, planning, urban landscape renovation, water supply and drainage, preserving and promoting the value of ancient French architectural works in Vietnam such as Long Bien bridge.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam always supports and creates favorable conditions for AFD to actively promote its role and operate effectively in Vietnam, effectively implementing cooperation projects to bring about results commensurate with the stature of the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed her belief that Director Julien Seillant will have a successful term in Vietnam.
