Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya emphasized that the ceremony was to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who has been revered by all Thai people as the “father of the nation” for the past seven decades.

He devoted his life to more than 4,000 royal projects across the country, from irrigation, agriculture, resource conservation, flood and drought prevention, to drug control and public health care, all of which had lasting impacts on people from all walks of life.

Regarding the long-standing friendship between Thailand and Vietnam, the Ambassador said that 2025 marks an important milestone in bilateral relations. The two countries will enter a new era when they officially upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership not only demonstrates enhanced cooperation in all fields but also reaffirms the proactive and constructive roles of Vietnam and Thailand in maintaining peace, security and stability in the region.

According to Ambassador Sriphiromya, as the 9th largest foreign investor in Vietnam and Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN, Thailand has always been a close and responsible economic partner with a total accumulated investment capital of more than 15 billion USD.

The two governments will continue to work closely to strengthen cooperation to reduce trade barriers, aiming to achieve the bilateral trade target of 25 billion USD, support each other to participate deeply in the global value chain, and create a friendly environment for businesses to reduce the impact of global trade tensions, thereby helping to increase trade and investment volume between the two countries.

In the first 10 months of 2025, more than 500,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand and more than 300,000 Thai tourists visited Vietnam. We hope that this number will increase for both sides and will continue to organize events to promote tourism between the two countries,” the diplomat pointed out.

The event not only served as a cultural bridge to enhance understanding between the people of the two countries but also honored Hanoi as a typical historical and cultural center of Vietnam.

“Next year, Thailand and Vietnam will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1976-2026). I look forward to joining Vietnamese friends and partners across the country to celebrate this important milestone and continue to deepen the bilateral relationship for the mutual benefit of the people of both sides,” Ambassador Sriphiromya expressed .
