Releasing critically endangered animals to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park

On May 6, the Quang Chau Commune Police, Quang Trach District, Quang Binh Province coordinated with the Quang Trach District Forest Protection Department to transfer a small loris to the Rescue, Conservation and Development Center of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care, rehabilitation and release back into the natural forest environment.

Quang Chau Commune Police coordinated with Quang Trach District Forest Rangers and Mr. Dam Xuan Minh to release the baby loris back into the wild.

It is known that the small loris mentioned above was discovered and captured by Mr. Dam Xuan Minh (born in 1992), residing in Quang Chau commune, Quang Trach, Quang Binh while he was clearing the garden at his private house in Quang Chau commune. Immediately after that, Mr. Minh brought the small loris to the Quang Chau commune police to report, and at the same time coordinated to hand over to the Quang Trach district Forest Protection Department.

The discovered pygmy loris has the scientific name Nycticebus pygmaeus, belonging to the Loricidae family, Primates order. This loris is listed in group IB - an extremely endangered and rare forest animal in Vietnam. The pygmy loris is facing a high risk of extinction and has been recorded in the Vietnam Red Book, as well as international conservation lists. Exploitation, captivity, and trade of this species in any form is strictly prohibited.
