People hand over endangered and rare mountain turtles

Lao Bao Commune People's Committee has just coordinated with Lao Bao Forest Ranger Station - Huong Hoa Forest Ranger Department, Quang Tri province to receive a rare mountain tortoise voluntarily handed over by a local resident.

Specifically, at around 7am on December 2, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, residing in Trung Chin village, Lao Bao commune, discovered a 3kg turtle crawling in his garden. Knowing that this was a rare animal that needed to be protected, Mr. Tuan called the wildlife protection hotline for guidance.

Immediately after receiving the information, Lao Bao Commune People's Committee coordinated with Lao Bao Forest Ranger Station to make a record of receiving the turtle for care and release into the natural environment according to regulations.

According to authorities, this is a mountain tortoise species, with the scientific name Manouria impressa, belonging to group IIB, endangered, rare and in need of priority protection...
