On December 1, Thailand announced that it had completed all preparations to welcome sports delegations from 10 ASEAN countries. To ensure safety, the service system for the Games has been carefully prepared, from the time the delegations set foot at the airport until throughout their stay and competition.
“The 33rd SEA Games is being comprehensively prepared to create a good impression for the participating delegations from December 9 to 20,” said Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
At the airport, volunteers are on hand to provide information and guidance, helping procedures to be carried out quickly and in a friendly manner.
In addition, the Organizing Committee set up separate immigration checkpoints, opened priority lanes, arranged specialized buses and police escorts to bring groups back to hotels safely and conveniently.
Traffic coordination is strictly implemented to prevent congestion but still minimize impact on people's lives.
“The SEA Games athletes and officials are special guests who we want to give the most thoughtful and memorable reception,” Dr. Kongsak stressed, adding that thousands of police, both uniformed and plainclothes, were deployed at the airport, hotels and all competition venues.
Not only tightening security, Thailand also put into operation the International Radio and Television Center and the Media Coordination Center to serve the 33rd SEA Games. This project worth 1 billion baht is equipped with modern technology, meeting international standards and ensuring the operational needs of the regional press.
According to Ms. Sudruthai Lertkasem, Director General of the Public Relations Department of Thailand, the 33rd SEA Games is expected to be the most exciting event ever, with more than 30 sports being broadcast.
At the same time, the Organizing Committee is also considering granting broadcasting rights to sports federations through its own, non-profit platform, to spread the image of the SEA Games more widely in the regional community.
