On the afternoon of December 10th, the Vietnamese women's national team held their final training session in preparation for their match against Myanmar in the group stage of the 33rd SEA Games women's football tournament.
Coach Mai Duc Chung's team is currently second in Group B with 3 points, 3 points behind Myanmar. Therefore, the Vietnamese girls must win against their opponent to secure a place in the semi-finals.
Speaking before the match, Thai Thi Thao emphasized the "life or death" nature of this confrontation: "Tomorrow's match is very important for the women's team. We have to win to be sure of advancing to the semi-finals."
The midfielder said that after the disappointing defeat against the Philippines, the coaching staff and the entire team quickly regrouped. Everyone put aside the disappointment of the previous match to focus on preparing as best as possible for this crucial game.
Regarding professional preparation, the player born in 1995 revealed that the coaching staff is focusing intensely on analyzing the opponent.
"Tomorrow morning, the team will watch the video to learn from our opponents and ourselves, and thereby develop the most appropriate strategies for the match against Myanmar," Thao said.
Assessing the strength of her opponents, Thai Thi Thao expressed particular admiration for the captain wearing jersey number 7 from Myanmar. She commented: "She has been playing very well for a long time, and I've faced her many times. This player has excellent skills, strength, ball handling ability, and the ability to seize opportunities to decide matches."
Thao hopes that in tomorrow's match, the whole team will maintain high concentration to neutralize this threat, thereby achieving the goal of winning.
She was also moved that the home team, despite competing in Thailand, still received enthusiastic support from overseas Vietnamese and fans.
Tomorrow (December 11th), the Vietnamese women's team will face Myanmar at 4 PM at Chonburi Stadium.
