Remembering Uncle Ho in May - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station

- In May, schools in the province enthusiastically organized activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). From flag-raising activities or extracurricular hours, school radio news to practical experience activities, the spirit of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style is spreading widely, permeating every classroom and every educational activity.

Implementing Plan No. 47/KH-UBND dated February 15, 2025 of the People's Committee of Lang Son province on "Implementing activities to celebrate major holidays and important historical events in 2025 in Lang Son province", including activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the Departmentof Education and Training (GD&DT) has directed 100% of schools to carry out propaganda and education activities about Uncle Ho associated with the characteristics of each level of education.

According to incomplete statistics from the Department of Education and Training, from late April to early May 2025, about 85% of schools from kindergarten to high school and vocational education and continuing education centers in the province organized many meaningful activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday. The activities took place in a variety of forms such as storytelling, painting, making wall newspapers, offering incense, performing arts exchanges, screening documentary films, thematic activities, etc.

For preschool children, Uncle Ho's thoughts are conveyed gently through illustrations and familiar stories that are suitable for children's psychology. At Tuoi Tho Kindergarten ( Lang Son city), 5-year-old students participated in the incense offering ceremony at the memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh, watched a documentary about Uncle Ho, and drew pictures with the theme "Uncle Ho with children". Ms. Tran Thi Nhan, the school's principal, shared: "Although the children are still young, they are very excited about the activities. We believe that this activity is the foundation for sowing the seeds of morality early in the children."

At higher levels of education, the content about Uncle Ho is presented more vividly and creatively. At Dinh Lap High School (Dinh Lap District), a storytelling contest in the form of dramatization attracted a large number of students to participate. The students not only told stories but also acted out roles, recreating historical moments. Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Literature - English - Geography Group, a member of the Jury, shared: "The students expressed their emotions very honestly. Through this activity, the students better understood Uncle Ho's thoughts and great personality, while also practicing presentation skills, confidence and team spirit."

Not only during peak times, many schools maintain the discipline of studying and following Uncle Ho as an indispensable part of the educational program. Classroom activities, flag salutes, and experiential activities are all cleverly integrated with content about Uncle Ho. The "Uncle Ho Bookshelf" system with thousands of books about his life and revolutionary career is maintained in most primary, secondary, and high schools in the province.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the "Border Lesson" model has become a highlight in the series of activities celebrating the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh at schools in border areas. Typically, at Dong Dang Town Secondary School (Cao Loc District), the school organized an extracurricular lesson "Border Remembers Uncle Ho", integrating storytelling about Uncle Ho and visiting border markers, helping students understand more deeply about Uncle Ho, while at the same time arousing patriotism and awareness of preserving the border. This is a practical and effective way, which is being actively implemented and expanded by schools.

According to Mr. Dang Hong Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, activities towards Uncle Ho's birthday this year have many innovations from form to content, schools have proactively linked activities with education on life ideals, life skills and practical actions. The content is implemented in accordance with the psychology of the age group, close to the lives of students. In particular, many units have organized for students to write emotional diaries, participate in volunteer activities, contributing to concretizing the work of following Uncle Ho's example. In the coming time, the education sector will continue to identify studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style as a long-term task, throughout the school year, associated with each educational content of each level of education, each subject".

In May, the activities towards the 135th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday are a source of love and a sustainable educational journey that the provincial education sector has been persistently implementing to sow the seeds of ideals and arouse the spirit of living beautifully and usefully in each student today and in the future.
