According to the resolution of the 11th meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee, it is expected that Quang Nam province and Da Nang city will be merged, named Da Nang city, with the political and administrative center located in Da Nang city today.
Thus, after the merger, Da Nang will have a population of more than 2.7 million people (Quang Nam province has a population of more than 1.5 million people, Da Nang city has a population of about 1.2 million people) with many resources.
With the strength of tourism services, this merger is expected to continue to supplement new resources for each other. Especially when Da Nang after the merger has up to 3 heritages recognized by UNESCO, creating great attraction on the world map.
Among them, Hoi An ancient town (Quang Nam) was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1999. This is an ancient town located on the Hoai River (downstream of the Thu Bon River) with a history of formation throughout the 17th and 19th centuries.

Hoi An has long been an attractive destination for tourists because the Hoi An World Heritage Complex has 1,360 relics with about 1,068 ancient houses, 11 ancient wells, 38 churches, 19 pagodas, 43 shrines...
Another cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1999 is My Son Sanctuary in Duy Phu Commune, Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province.
My Son Sanctuary, also known as My Son Temple Complex, dates from the 4th to the 13th century and includes more than 70 architectural works and temples of the Champa culture.
Along with the two world cultural heritages above, "Ma Nhai Ngu Hanh Son" in Ngu Hanh Son scenic spot, Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang is also a documentary heritage under the Memory of the World program recognized by UNESCO in 2022.

"Ma nhai" (stone stele inscriptions) is a collection of 78 texts in Chinese and Nom characters engraved on the cliffs and caves of the Ngu Hanh Son scenic spot.
Ma Nhai has diverse content, unique form, and many literary genres of kings, mandarins of the Nguyen Dynasty, high monks, intellectuals, dating from the first half of the 17th - 20th centuries.
The Ngu Hanh Son stele is an extremely valuable and unique document, clearly demonstrating the economic, cultural and social exchange and harmony between countries such as Japan - China - Vietnam in Vietnam from the 17th to 19th centuries.
This is a valuable source of documentary heritage in many aspects, reflecting many aspects not only of the locality but also of the whole country during feudal times.
Recently, many Japanese and Chinese tourists have taken historical tours to learn about the cultural exchanges from centuries ago that are preserved here.

Expectations for exploiting heritage journeys
Currently, Quang Nam province's economic scale in 2024 is estimated at nearly 129,000 billion VND, with the service sector accounting for 34.7%. Meanwhile, the economic scale of Da Nang city in 2024 is estimated at more than 151,307 billion VND, with the tourism - service sector accounting for more than 71.1%.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, an English speaking tour guide, believes that the merger of provinces and cities will create new opportunities for the tourism service industry when there is more room for exploitation. Especially the expansion of tours and routes, forming new products such as heritage journeys in Da Nang city.
"When working in tourism, we see that the culture and service style between Da Nang and Quang Nam are not much different.
Even many tourists when landing at Da Nang airport to go to Hoi An commented "Hoi An has a very beautiful international airport". Saying this shows that almost when tourists choose to go to Da Nang, they almost always visit Hoi An, the connection is very tight" - Mr. Tam acknowledged.
