Ho Chi Minh City has an advantage in developing river tourism .

In its journey into a new era, Ho Chi Minh City has been asserting its position as a leading high-end tourist destination in the region, where every experience on the river bears the mark of creativity and a spirit of integration.

The Saigon River meanders like a silk ribbon, blending with the dazzling lights, where visitors can enjoy relaxing moments on the water at night. More than just a dinner, this was a journey filled with emotion and warmth for Mr. and Mrs. Tran Hoang Phuc (residents of the US). The food , scenery, and sounds created an unforgettable experience for them on their return to their homeland.

From the Saigon River, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ho Chi Minh City's beautiful buildings.

Mr. Tran Hoang Phuc said: “This is my first time experiencing this cruise, and I found the dining experience very cozy. The food here is very diverse, and the night view is beautiful. On the Saigon River, you can admire the stunning buildings of Vietnam.”

Ho Chi Minh City is promoting the development of waterway transportation, with over 168 wards and communes having planned routes and ports, reducing the burden on road transport and boosting riverside tourism. The city is upgrading infrastructure, building wharves, restaurants, and hotels along the river, supporting tourism companies in developing new products and connecting tour routes.

The expansion of administrative boundaries has helped Ho Chi Minh City broaden its tourism area, develop inter-regional tours, and exploit its potential in marine resources and unique culture.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Saigon Tourism Corporation, shared that connecting destinations with traditional craft villages and riverside spaces, and integrating their exploitation, will serve the needs of both domestic and international tourists. This will contribute to the growth of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Huu An, Deputy Head of the Planning and Tourism Resource Development Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said: In the coming period, the city will develop 4 international passenger ports and 630 inland waterway terminals in the Ho Chi Minh City area, which is also a positive sign for the development of waterway tourism in the future.

Leveraging the advantages of mergers and a dense network of waterways spanning nearly 1,500 km, Ho Chi Minh City aims to develop inter-regional waterway transport corridors and connecting sea routes between regions, from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau and Con Dao, or from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta and then to Cambodia. Ho Chi Minh City aims to welcome 8.5-10 million international tourists and 45-50 million domestic tourists by the end of 2025, generating 290 trillion VND in revenue.
