The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced a draft to amend and supplement a number of articles of the Regulations on national excellent student selection exams, issued together with Circular No. 17/2023/TT-BGDDT dated October 10, 2023 of the Minister of Education and Training.
The amendments and supplements aim to guide the participating units in registering the maximum number of candidates for each exam team, and at the same time, deploy the inspection and supervision of the stages of the Exam in accordance with regulations.
According to the draft, the Ministry plans to maintain the maximum number of candidates registered for each exam subject for each unit as in previous years. This regulation is to avoid disruption and ensure the rights of candidates before implementing the arrangement of administrative units according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 dated June 12, 2025 of the National Assembly .
Specifically, each participating unit can register a maximum of 10 candidates for each team in each subject (except for the Hanoi participating unit, which can register a maximum of 20 candidates for each team). For units that implement the arrangement of provincial administrative units, the maximum number of candidates for each team in each subject is as follows:
Provinces and cities: Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, An Giang and Ca Mau, the maximum number of candidates is 20 for each exam subject.
Provinces and cities: Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Lam Dong, Vinh Long, Can Tho, the maximum number is 30 candidates for each exam subject.
Ho Chi Minh City, the maximum number of contestants for each team is 40.
The Ministry of Education and Training decides to establish inspection teams for the preparation and organization of the examination for the participating units and the Examination Council; to inspect the examination marking and review work according to the provisions of law. If necessary, the Minister of Education and Training decides to establish inspection teams.
Adjusting the Examination Regulations to suit the functions and tasks of inspection and examination activities during the organization of the Examination, according to the provisions of Decree No. 109/2025/ND-CP dated May 20, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Government Inspectorate.
