Reader Dan shared that at his company, some demanding customers prefer to communicate via social media rather than phone calls. When a customer makes a mistake, they will immediately retract the message.

Following the article "Wouldn't it be better to message via social media and wait... a few days than to call?", Tuoi Tre Online received many reader responses regarding whether it's better to call or message via Facebook or Zalo for the first contact.

It's best to be tactful when making contact.

According to many readers, the choice of how to call or text depends on age, field, and the nature of the work being communicated with.

Some readers suggest that for important matters or first-time contact, it's best to call beforehand.

User bebo****@gmail.com analyzed: "If they don't answer the phone, send a text message with the details of the work you need to discuss. Waiting on Facebook, Messenger, etc., will only lead to missed opportunities and may frustrate the other party, making them unwilling to cooperate. Don't say that in the digital age, everything must be done online."

Similarly, Mr. Quy Hung revealed that he dislikes it when people message him on Facebook when first contacting him for work. Or, if they do message, they should get straight to the point.

He's not always online, so it's very time-consuming to keep messaging back and forth, and it's not a continuous flow.

Anh Tuan believes that for serious relationships, making phone calls is more appropriate.

To put it more simply, Lan wrote: "The generation gap. Messaging via Facebook, Zalo, etc., is perfectly normal, even for many people who aren't young."

The account vant****@gmail.com also chose to communicate via text message. "If they call, I might be out and about or have something personal to discuss that's inconvenient to answer."

The reader with the phone number 0939… explained that due to the nature of their work, phone calls are often meaningless. "I always text everything so I have proof later. Talking on the phone often leads to arguments."

In particular, as reader Dan observes, nowadays, whether due to technology and digital means or not, people are invisibly causing their words to lose value and credibility.

He shared that in his unit, there are some demanding customers who prefer to communicate through OTT applications.

However, when a customer makes a mistake, they might casually press the recall button. Or they might insist that they said one thing and not another.

He complained, "We have no way to respond to the customer's illogical arguments. It's not impossible, but it's very difficult and time-consuming. Because we can't possibly take a screenshot every time we chat ten lines."

"If I were to find the keywords from the customer's chat, it would probably take several days or more, because the customer chatted on so many different apps."

Another thing is, when young people send large work files, they often conveniently send them through the chat app. Usually, I have to figure out how to download them myself, or forward them to the device where my team is working on the file.

According to reader Dan, people should think about the fact that nowadays, people seem to prioritize their own convenience. They no longer care, or care less, about how the other person receives their words or how they communicate.

I don't like strangers calling because I'm afraid of spam calls.

Often, people mistake incoming calls from unknown numbers for spam or advertising, and simply don't answer.

Mr. Truong shared that when working with strangers or superiors, he doesn't like it when people call him via Zalo or Facebook Messenger. "Because these are free, the call quality is choppy, and it feels like they're stingy," he said.

The user tran****@gmail.com bluntly stated: "If you call, I'll block you immediately. Not everyone has time to answer the phone."

Regarding the reluctance to answer calls from unknown numbers, Huy Tran explained: "The problem is that we are currently in the digital age, which brings with it many negative consequences, most notably fraud, harassment, and excessive advertising through phone calls. Therefore, no one wants to receive calls from unknown numbers anymore."

Based on his experience, reader thie****@gmail.com shared that he is very cautious when receiving calls from unknown numbers.

"Later, when mobile phones developed, strangers who wanted to make a transaction could text online first, introducing themselves. Only then would they call to talk. Anyone who knew my phone number wouldn't share it with others."

Similarly, Duy complained that out of 10 calls he received, 8 were from unknown numbers offering marketing services.

User khiemdo agrees that now all unknown numbers are for advertising or brokerage in various forms. Contacting someone via Zalo, on the other hand, means they are already a friend or acquaintance.

Reader duct****@gmail.com commented that in these times of mixed truth and falsehood, it's better to text to have time to consider and verify if the person is real before contacting them back. "If a strange number calls, I block them immediately. If they want me to answer, they need to send an email or text message to schedule an appointment beforehand."

Regarding this issue, reader tranle commented on the situation where mobile network operators have not effectively managed spam SIM cards, and now the network operators themselves are suffering losses due to the large number of spam calls. People have developed the habit of not answering calls from unknown numbers.

"Usually, I check on Zalo to see if the number is registered before calling back. Out of 10 missed calls, 9 are unanswered," this reader said.

Agreeing, reader Cuonghugo shared that this is a consequence of rampant advertising calls, causing calls not in the contact list to be considered spam. "I will not answer almost 95% of calls if the phone number is not in my contact list."

Some readers believe that calls from unknown numbers can disrupt the recipient's work, and sometimes even be considered a nuisance.

According to the abcs account, the call puts both parties in a position where they have to respond immediately, with no time for consideration, which is often detrimental to the business.
