Bad weather, lightning damaged houses on Cu Lao Xanh island

On the morning of September 7, Mr. Duong Hiep Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Chau commune (or Cu Lao Xanh island, Gia Lai province) confirmed that a lightning strike had just occurred in the area, damaging a house.

At around 0:00 on September 7, a lightning bolt suddenly struck the front of Mr. Le Van Mua's house (Dong village, Nhon Chau commune).

The lightning broke a large section of the wall, severely damaging the cement roof, causing bricks and concrete to fall to the floor. At that time, there were people sleeping in Mr. Mua’s house, but fortunately no one was injured.

Immediately after the incident, Nhon Chau Commune People's Committee sent forces to inspect and count the damage to provide initial support to Mr. Mua's household.

Mr. Duong Hiep Hung added that due to complicated weather conditions at sea and large waves, the locality has temporarily banned all boats and canoes from entering and leaving the mainland to ensure people's safety.

Many hard concrete mortars and bricks were struck by lightning and fell to the ground.

Nhon Chau island commune is 20km from the mainland and currently has about 2,300 people.
