From July 29th to August 2nd, the Command of Naval Region 5, in coordination with the Propaganda Department of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, organized information and propaganda activities on the sea and islands in localities throughout the province.

At the conference, speakers from the Command of Naval Region 5 provided information and disseminated knowledge about the sea and islands to more than 3,600 officials, Party members, and people in the 9 districts, towns, and cities under the jurisdiction of An Giang province.

The information and propaganda content focuses on the position, role, and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands to the cause of national construction and defense; the current situation in our sea areas; the viewpoints, objectives, and solutions of the Party and State in the struggle to protect maritime sovereignty ; and some outstanding achievements of the Vietnam People's Navy in fulfilling its assigned political tasks.

The delegates also received a briefing from a speaker of the 5th Naval Region Command on Directive 45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017, of the Prime Minister on a number of urgent tasks and solutions to address the European Commission's warning against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and the legal regulations and penalties for fishing vessels violating regulations on illegal fishing in foreign waters.

Information and propaganda activities aim to further thoroughly implement the resolutions and directives of the Party, especially Resolution No. 8 of the 13th Central Committee on "The Strategy for National Defense in the New Situation," and Resolution No. 8 of the 12th Central Committee on "The Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam's Marine Economy to 2030, with a Vision to 2045."
Continue to strengthen propaganda and education for cadres, Party members, and all strata of the people to deeply understand the position, role, and potential of the sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defense; the goals, guidelines, and policies of the Party and State on sustainable development of the marine and island economy associated with building a national defense system and people's security posture at sea; and to promote the combined strength of the political system and the community in participating in socio-economic development, associated with consolidating national defense and security, and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Earlier, in May 2024, the Command of Naval Region 5 coordinated with the Women's Union and the Youth Union of An Giang province to organize information and propaganda activities on the sea and islands for more than 1,000 female cadres and members of the provincial Women's Union and students of An Giang University.
