This is the content of the decision on the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area until 2045, which has just been approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
The planning study area for the Mang Den Tourist Area covers over 90,000 hectares, including Mang Den town and five communes: Mang But, Dak Tang, Mang Canh, Hieu, and Po E. The Mang Den National Ecotourism Area planning approved by the Prime Minister in 2013 covers 138,000 hectares, including the entire area of Kon Plong district.
The purpose of downsizing is to focus on investing in infrastructure to turn Mang Den tourist area into a national and regional tourism, resort and cultural center, and an attractive destination in the Central Highlands.
Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, is about 60 km from Kon Tum city center, at an altitude of over 1,200 m, with cool weather all year round. By the end of November 2023, there were over 930,000 tourists coming to Mang Den, nearly double last year.
In August, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh approved the proposal from Kon Tum province to add Mang Den Airport to the airport development plan. The airport will cost 4,000 billion VND to be built under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Mang Den Airport is expected to cover approximately 350 hectares, with a designed capacity of 3 to 5 million passengers per year, located in Mang Den town. Construction is expected to take place between 2023 and 2027.
