Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sends condolences over mini apartment fire

Upon hearing of the tragic fire that occurred in Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi on the night of September 12, 2023, causing heavy losses in human lives and property, on September 20, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet sent a letter of condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

In the letter, on behalf of the Royal Government and People of Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Manet sent his deepest condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the victims and their families; and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Vietnamese Government, the Vietnamese people will soon overcome these sorrowful moments.

On the same day, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar sent a letter of condolence to Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on the night of September 12 and early morning of September 13, 2023, a particularly serious fire broke out at the mini apartment building No. 37, Alley 29/70, Khuong Ha Street, Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi, killing 56 people and injuring 37 others.

Immediately after the fire, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang... went to the scene to inspect and direct the handling of the consequences; went to the hospital to encourage and visit the victims who were being treated.

On September 14, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a letter of condolences to the Party Committee, Government and People of Hanoi City about the fire.

On the afternoon of September 15, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the National Assembly delegation came to burn incense to commemorate the victims of the fire and to encourage and visit the victims currently being treated at Bach Mai Hospital.

Authorities at all levels, agencies, unions, organizations and individuals have taken many measures to provide both material and spiritual support to the fire victims and their relatives.

The Ministry of Health requires hospitals to coordinate with relevant units to mobilize good doctors, ensure adequate medicine and emergency equipment, handle and treat victims, and not collect fees yet.

On September 15, leaders of Laos, Venezuela, and Kazakhstan sent telegrams and letters of condolence to the leaders of Vietnam.
