Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed an Official Dispatch on October 12 requesting relevant ministries, branches and localities to assess and overcome the damage caused by Storm No. 11 to the education sector.
The dispatch stated that in recent days, storm No. 11 (Matmo) has caused serious damage to people and property in the provinces and cities in the North Central and Northern regions. In particular, the education sector has been severely affected with hundreds of schools damaged; books, teaching equipment, and school supplies were swept away by water and torn beyond use.

Faced with the above situation, the Prime Minister requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with departments and branches to urgently review and compile statistics on the damage caused by storm No. 11.
The Prime Minister noted to focus on the level of human damage: the number of officials, teachers, staff and students injured or killed (classified by level: Death, injury), along with initial support information (if any).
In the damage to school facilities, it is necessary to classify by level and type of education, classify by quantity and estimate the value of damage.
For damage to textbooks, it is necessary to classify by set of books used, including the name of the set, the number of lost/damaged books by subject and class, and estimate the value of damage...
Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities shall proactively use local budgets, central support and other legally mobilized sources to promptly overcome the damage caused by storm No. 11, ensuring conditions for teachers, classrooms, teaching equipment, learning materials and school hygiene for students to go to school.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to direct and urge the local education sector to review and mobilize forces and resources to quickly repair educational facilities affected by natural disasters; and to have timely plans to support books, teaching equipment, and learning materials for damaged educational facilities.
The Head of Government requested the Ministers of Public Security, National Defense, Agriculture and Environment to continue directing units located in the area to support localities in cleaning up schools, reviewing and counting damages as requested by the People's Committees of provinces and cities.
